It's too early to judge, but this meltdown isn't as hilarious as I'd hoped.

i will meltdown when he is 5th in the league with his own players and doesnt get canned

Frank finished 5th in the league last year... just sayin

The "same team as last year (minus Jam Sam)" was improved by just about every measure -- except for winning one NCAA game -- this year over last year ... just sayin.

Kind of a big deal.

Getting to the Round of 32 means more to you than a league championship?  Huh.  I'm the opposite.

Doing the latter makes you a failure if you can't do the former.

But finishing 5th in the conference and getting to the Round of 32 is just fine?   :dunno:

If I thought the way he won a league championship was repeatable, I would agree with you. Because I don't think 14-4 will win a league championship again in his tenure, I would rather he not underachieve in the tournament.

All that said, the extension really doesn't surprise or concern me.  It's a rare coach that leaves a school because his contract wasn't renewed and I can't imagine the buyout was changed drastically.

Well, if it's in the contract, then they might as well do it now after a moderately successful season. They would look pretty dumb extending his contract after a trip to the NIT, even if it was mandatory.

Not winning a game in the NCAAs was VERY disappointing. And it should be.

But it doesn't discount a conference title to me. I don't care if it was shared or if the league was down, it hasn't been done since I was 2 years old. Winning AQ leagues is still hard to do and is a significant accomplishment. Trying to discount it is dumb. JMHO.

Everyone just stop.

The only reasonable objection to oscar Weber is the same objection that most of us had when he was hired....that he'll merely repeat his performance at Illinois.

The horrible paradox is that we have to give him time in order to PROVE that we were right about him.

God, I hope not.

Of course this was going to happen, regardless of whether or not it was in his contract.  This is Currie's perceived opportunity for a victory lap.

I honestly don't care what we're paying him.  As far as I'm concerned, it's just carving out room in the budget for the next guy (if it comes to that).

this seems pretty reasonable. the new salary definitely isn't outlandish, but talk about falling upward. My goodness.

he didn't fall anywhere

he didn't get fired about 13 months ago?
WAY TO LAY IT ON THE LINE!
