3D printers aren't real.  They don't exist.

Neither does the future.  But it's coming.

I already bought a warehouse so I can start storing whatever it is that 3d printers use to make stuff. I'm going to obtain a huge stockpile of that stuff and sell it for top dollar to all the rubes who think they are 3d printing free goods in the future.

I have IP on all treysolids, so everytime you print one, you have to pay me.  cha-ching!  :kstategrad:

Good luck enforcing that. 3d printer piracy will be even easier than internet piracy.

No. It won't be easier than internet piracy since it will BE internet piracy. You need a CAD file to print anything, and those CAD files will live in the cloud. Unless you make all your own detailed 3D CADs, which I'm sure the casual user won't.

With one caveat - that scanning technology will make printing random objects without a CAD file easier but right now it's really low fidelity.

No, I'm going to steal people's plans by having my robot workers break into wherever those servers are stored and just swipe the data the old fashioned way. There's no risk at all because nobody will be able to trace my robots back to me if they get caught and I can just 3d print some more. Nobody will be able to trace where their data went like they could with internet piracy. I bet internet piracy is actually kind of hard to pull off in the future.

I've been thinking a lot about how freaking rad the future is going to be. I mean we're way smarter than we've ever been and technology is expanding at an exponential pace. Like my kids will never know a world without iPads. iPads will be like rotary phones to them. THINK ABOUT THAT! THINK ABOUT WHAT THE NEXT GENERATION WILL COME UP WITH!

holy crap it's going to be great.

Do you guys ever think about that kind of stuff, too? :ksu:

I'm excited about getting sent to a retirement home by my ungrateful kids because I assume I'll be playing 24/7 virtual reality games and just partying with the future technology

Teleportation rendering airline miles useless.  You want to go somewhere, just go. Don't worry about a hotel either, just come back when you are ready to sack out.

I think we'll put a man on the moon in the future.  We'll no longer have to pretend we already did.
