I enjoy Mumford and Sons, but their music does mostly sound the same. Its all good that way though

"overrated" means the majority of folks think something is better than it actually is.
Example: Many people think the band Mumford and Sons is amazing, when in reality, they are just an average bunch of dudes who strum their mandolins really fast, and since most bands don't have a mandolin, people confuse this with talent. Hence, overrated.

The general consensus of people.

sure mumford and sons are probably overrated, but that's not their fault. constantly getting jerked off by the media and all your teen-pop-listening-to friends isn't their fault either. They're still fun to listen to, with good lyrics, melodies, etc

Don't get me wrong, I sing my ass off anytime Mumford and Sons comes on. But I do that with Call Me Maybe, Party in the USA, and Bad Romance too. But I don't go around trying to tell people that they're good songs. They're just catchy. If you equate catchy with good, then I guess you can argue that Mumford and Sons makes good music.

I think it's pretty unfair to lump them in with the Maybe/Party/Romance crowd. Mostly because they are a band that all play instruments and write their own music.

Hard to be overrated when it's never won Best Drama Series. Only 3 Best Actor in a Drama Series awards, and 2 Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series awards. So it probably is overrated by me, but not the general public, which is, by definition, necessary to be considered overrated.
