You would think that, but most of those giants are too busy loading up on cupcakes to face the mighty KSU Wildcats. Just look at the most comparable program out there to us, Notre Dame. They have to beg schools to face them and then they settle for crappy games like Navy every single year. A conference forces other schools to come take their loss from us, and it keeps us having to play the service academies.

Now that we've proven we can win in a true round robin, I'd be okay with moving away from it.  No sense in beating each other up only to succumb to a fresher team in the post season. 

Agreed.  Winning a true round robin is the ahrdest thing in sports.

While I completely enjoyed winning the Pepper against OU, knowing that K-State prevailed in a true round robin conference football schedule like the old Big 8 days was fantastic.   No backdoor to a BCS bowl by not playing the 1st, 2nd, and 4th-best teams in the conference.

If I were the Big 12 commissioner, I would have added Memphis and Louisville two years ago.

Giving up the pure greatness of round robin for Memphis and Louisville means I would of burned your house down with you in it.

What's so great about round robin?  I'd rather have a conference championship game in football.

Agree, big ten basketball is the worst. my proof? temple nearly beat indiana, supposedly the best team in the country. michigan has been up and down all year, but is playing their best ball right now. illinois is a snoozer, and so is michigan state.

So if KU gives up and belatedly accepts its super secret big 10 offer, does the Kansas legislature force us to go with them, since they cant go anywhere with out us (curse of being big brow I guess)?

I mean, it would be kinda fun to sleepwalk to football championships year after year, but roadies to some of the saddest, post-industrial, arctic wastelands would be awful. And at that point wouldnt this thread come full circle back to the present conundrum, only with the sport that's the actual lifeblood, cash-cow, honey pot, etc. funding all these other conf sports?
