THE REVIEWS ARE IN!

Quote
This is a late review, very late - to be exact just over a year ago. Since I am back Yelping, I've decided to finally give my review on TITLETOWN. My best buddy since grade school decided to take me to his favorite restaurant. I've heard about TITLETOWN awhile ago when he did his stint at the Ritz Carlton. That is where he developed his reputation as being a great chef which finally led him to open his own, TITLETOWN. For us diners, it was a decision we all appreciated and hunger for.

Once we arrived at our 9pm reservations, it was like clockwork of efficiency. We came in, and we were greeted by a wonderful young lady. And told us our table is ready and we were seated immediately. No waiting even a midst all the hustle and bustle. TITLETOWN was super busy despite being in the middle of the weekday.

The table was quickly set by the staff, and they seem work like a well rehearsed orchestra. And when I say "they" it wasn't just one person but a staff of 4 that brought plates, flatwares, linen napkins, water, and menus. Each staff had a specific role, even as simple as table setting. I knew then we were in a world class TITLETOWN where service must be impeccable.

My buddy and I decided to go for the 5 course meal where we can choose a dish from each 5 different courses. But first,  we were given an amuse bouche to kick start our palate. We had a bisque of butternut squash. Delightful.

Our first course, my buddy had the Lobster salad and I had the lobster risotto. My first bite of my lobster risotto, totally blew my taste buds away. It was literally an emotional experience. To simply say it was "great risotto" was not sufficient enough and does not give it justice. When a dish is executed with perfection and precision, it will leave an impression that will remain with you forever. The lobster risotto, was creamy, luxurious, rich, and heavenly. I wouldn't be surprised if this risotto was their number one and signature dish.

Second course, my buddy had the seared beef filet with bacon potato risotto. Casis Shallot marmalade and stilton butter. I had the Pan seared Branzino with Fennel puree, nicoise olives, and saffron orange emulsion. I tasted my buddy's beef filet and he tried my branzino, both were cooked with perfection. The branzino is a Mediterranean sea bass, almost similar to a small striped bass. The skin of the branzino was cooked crispy and matched perfectly with the saffron orange emulsion.

Third course, my buddy had the Lemon pepper duck breast, duck hash, celery root puree and rhubarb. I had the Roasted pork belly and tenderloin with brussel sprouts, apples, parsnip puree, and maple cider reduction, The roasted pork belly  had the very crisp skin, chicharron. And the pork tenderloin was so tender and moist, you could have cut it with a Q Tip.

The fourth course, my buddy had the seared scallops with butternut squash puree, shimeji mushrooms, apples, cauliflower, and tarragon. And I had the Roasted Quail stuffed with foie gras, quinoa, savoy cabbage, cipollini pecan chutney, and bread pudding.

The fifth course,we had the Ice Cream sandwich macaroons.

And we were not finished, well at least I wasn't, since it was my birthday, they gave me a complimentary cake with mousse. And also they gave us a tray filled with assorted cookies. By that time, we felt we ate way too much. So much so, that my stomach was yelling at me to stop eating.

In between meals and courses, the staff were very attentive and made sure we had new utensils. Our glasses filled with their filtered carbonated water. When dishes were removed, 2 servers took them away- one server for my dishes and utensils and other server for my buddy. And the captain came to our table after each course and asked us what we thought about the food so far. I couldn't help but say the food was just simply "world class". I just can't help to compare their service to a well rehearsed and orchestrated symphony.

After our courses were over, the captain came over and we spoke about experience. I was telling him that this was an experience every person should experience once in their lifetime. Also I was telling the captain how full we were that we ate way too much. The food was not skimpy unlike some other so called fine dining restaurants. They made sure our food was generous and no one will go home "still hungry". I joked with him and said I've should have worn elastic pants. All of us laughed about that. But to our surprise, the captain asked us if we would like to see the tour of their kitchen and meet the kitchen staff. It was a very pleasant surprise for which we couldn't say yes fast enough. We were escorted to the kitchen and I met their sous chef and a long time employee of TITLETOWN since they opened years ago. Kitchen was spotless and definitely a TITLETOWN. We talked a little bit with the kitchen staff and thanked them for the outstanding food, and an overall wonderful experience.

sorry Kstate looks like Green Bay is titletown

I thought you said Lawrence was TITLETOWN? I mean, you're flopping and flailing around like a fish out of water right now, changing your answer in every other post, and you expect us to listen to you when you try to tell us where TITLETOWN, The World is?

you kstaters don't have any reasoning at all... it's like trying to teach an old dog new tricks

I have no idea what that means. And I don't think you do, either.

it's pretty simply really..no other city in the US considers itself titletown just by winning a league fball and basketball championship, they consider titletown as someone who actually you know.... wins titles.

Whose TITLES these are I think I know
His house is in Manhattan, though;
He will not see me EMAWing here
To watch his books fill up with dough
The little jayhawk must think it queer
To stop without a fieldhouse near
Between the cranes and spacious skies
The greatest evening of the year

He watches his yellow shoes with saddened eyes
And tries to find some disguise
The only other sound's the sweep
Of Big 12 titles, and C.O.Y.s
Manhattan's lovely, dark and deep.
But I have TITLES to keep.
And more to go before I sleep.
And more to go before I sleep.
:adios:

Out here in TITLETOWN
I farm for my TITLES
I get my back into my INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS.
I don't need to fight
To prove I'm right
I don't need to be forgiven in TITLETOWN.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

'Cause I've got friends in TITLETOWN
Where the REST OF THE BIG 12 drowns
And the TITLES chase all blues away, and I'll be okay
Hey, I'm not big on losing games,
Think I'll slip on down to the OH-OH-DEE
Oh, I've got friends in low TITLETOWN

I love when people tell us we're Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) when it's clear that the humor is just miles above their head.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one TO TITLETOWN,
And that has made all the difference.
