I have only had good deer meat once or twice.  At those times I have asked how ppl prepare it and am always told some elaborate process that includes soaking in butter milk, wrapping in bacon a bunch, or slathering a bunch of some other type of grease or oil on it.  You can treat cardboard the same way and get similar results.

As for sausage and jerkey, if you can't make literally anything taste good in sausage or jerkey, you don't know what you are doing.

Some ppl tell you they love deer because of how healthy it is compared to beef.  Pretty much everything described above negates that.

Most people, the vast majority, don't properly trim the fat off.  The fat carries that game-y taste, and will still go rancid even when frozen.  It's not that elaborate, just time consuming, and you might whittle down 50 pounds of meat to just 30, but it's worth it.  Remember most people don't know how to cook a beef steak, too, and that's pretty rough ridin' simple.

I'd think that a bunch of drunk guys following the hunting crew might scare off the deer or whatever they are hunting.....but then again I've never been hunting so I don't really know.

You send the drunk unarmed guys out in front of the hunters.  It lulls the dear into a false sense of security.

Hunting isn't about being drunk.  It's about being hung over.

1. drive to the place you are hunting
2. get super pak'ed with the crew and stay up super late
3. get up super early
4. go hunting like an hour before light
5. wish to god you didn't stay up so late and swear you won't do it again
6. Do it all again.

Haha, that's kinda true.  A joke in my group of bird hunting buddies is sometimes at the first field if you are still hurting pretty bad but too proud to admit it you just collar up your dog and leave the gun, and when someone asks "not carrying a gun?" you just say "naw I'm just going to run dogs for a bit" and act all gentlemanly and that your friends are heathens for actually killing the birds.

Totally different direction...yesterday after work two of my friends and I prepared and served food at a local community shelter.  We asked a bunch of others to help.  Pretty cool experience and met a few folks I wouldn't otherwise have encountered.

giving back feels great.   A group I'm involved in just distrubuted $14,000 in coats to kids and over $15k in toys during a shopping spree.    You haven't had the feels until you see a kid cry about getting a coat.   A. Coat.

That's awesome.  Thanks for sharing that here.  Very studly! And you are right.  Most folks have no idea how little some have.  I told someone recently that I am very uncomfortable receiving gifts.  I really don't enjoy it at all.  But I get great joy in giving.

Just finished my MBA while my wife also finished a masters degree all while having 2 little kids. Also, due to said MBA graduation, I'm getting a fat raise at my current job which I used to leverage into a great salary at a new job that I will be starting soon in a preferred industry.  :gocho:

I've been killing it at work lately and my CEO came to me today and asked to see me in her office. Her words:

"Wacky, I've gotta tell you how much I love you right now. I've really enjoyed working with you and you're doing an excellent job and I wanted to tell you that in person. We made a great hire and i'm excited about your future with our company. Anyways, here's what my schedule looks like for the next week..."  :excited:

I'm humble IRL, why do I need to be humble on a message board with my friends? It's the rough ridin' stud thread!
