My last one tasted good, especially the jerky and summer sausage.   :dunno:

It's not all about the meat, anyway.

My grandparents have prime real estate in the flint hills, if you're ever interested. Nobody even uses it. Turkeys, pheasant, deer, quail, fishing, etc. It's an outdoors man's paradise.

 Just let me know. I don't really hunt, but I fish. I have to be in attendance. My grandma lives in a home in Topeka now, that's her only request. I'll just walk with ya and point out birds like a dog, while I drink a beer.

I'd think that a bunch of drunk guys following the hunting crew might scare off the deer or whatever they are hunting.....but then again I've never been hunting so I don't really know.

I would not go hunting with somebody who is drinking. Not even one beer. It's a hard and fast rule with me.

in my experience, they taste pretty good.  but you have to shoot the young tender ones, not the old antlerey types.

Totally different direction...yesterday after work two of my friends and I prepared and served food at a local community shelter.  We asked a bunch of others to help.  Pretty cool experience and met a few folks I wouldn't otherwise have encountered.

I think if you can get all the fat off and then take good care of the meat even the older bucks can taste good.  I've never had rutted up stud bucks though, just post-rut 3.5-5.5 year old deer.

I have only had good deer meat once or twice.  At those times I have asked how ppl prepare it and am always told some elaborate process that includes soaking in butter milk, wrapping in bacon a bunch, or slathering a bunch of some other type of grease or oil on it.  You can treat cardboard the same way and get similar results.

As for sausage and jerkey, if you can't make literally anything taste good in sausage or jerkey, you don't know what you are doing.

Some ppl tell you they love deer because of how healthy it is compared to beef.  Pretty much everything described above negates that.
