I assumed that it was a give and take thing with Mrs. sd. He wanted the kegerator and bar area, she wanted kids and a mud room with lockers. Good marriage involves give and take.

Not much of a hardwood floor guy, but I would assume a finished on site floor would give you more consistency in color and in smoothness.

Ask which has better longevity.  The prefinished may have some coating or something on it that a onsite finish wouldn't.  Could make the finish more scratch resistant or something and keep you from having to refinish as soon as you may have to with the onsite finished floor.

Just spit balling here.

I clean my carpet often.  Hardwood is loud and cold.  Carpet is quiet, comfortable, and warm.

Assuming you are talking about an attached garage, do you have hvac supply/return lines to the garage?

carpet is gross.  if you're not man enough to handle hardwoods then buy some rugs.

hmm, let me lay down on this beautiful carpet filled with an incredible amount of dangerous microbes.  and underneath it, the pad. yes the carpet pad- a fungus laden petri dish better belonging in the laboratory rather than the living room.

Attached, correct.  It's not heated/cooled (yet) but it stays quite mild no matter the outside temp.

Yeah, I know.  I imagine the carpet has helped build up my immune system.  I rarely get sick.
