Dealing with a lack of hope should be a major theme.  A miracle cure represents a potential end to the series, even if they dick around getting him there, and so I didn't think it could be real.  Also, the whole concept was ridiculous awful.  Glad they ended it.  Also, the spinoff is supposed to take place up north so I think they are keeping these guys in the south.  I'll bet they keep the two main groups totally separate and then have very minor characters show up in both so people can giggle and think they found something.

This was one of the better episodes since season 1. This show might be finally turning a corner?

The ginger's backstory was brief but good. So his family left him because they were terrified of his brutality? He's a man who needed a mission. He accepted mullet's story hook, line, and sinker because it's what he needed. Still doesn't explain everyone else buying into such a stupid story, but whatever - it's reasonable to assume that people will do some pretty irrational stuff in a zombie apocalypse.

So next up should be rescuing Carol and Beth, I guess, and then who knows from there.

That's pretty weird, to split because your husband and father kicks too much ass during a zombie apocalypse?  Like, I am sure he was already a pretty violent guy and was a soldier and those kids were pretty old so his freak outs would be old news by then.  Really a weird time to decide you want a divorce.

Didn't go back to look or anything, but I am pretty sure the ppl he killed with that soup can(lol, btw) were not zombies.  This would tie into his speech to Glenn about how killing other ppl used to be the hardest thing, and now it is the easiest thing in the world.  So, I took it that the zombo thing just started, and he took out 5 perfectly healthy ppl.  His fam seemed to not be in the survive at all costs mode and thought him a monster for it.

Yeah - that was my take also. He was killing other people for food in the grocery store right after the outbreak started. That's why there was still food in the grocery store, which would probably be the first place to be scoured clean.

My hunch, though, is that the ginger's marriage was already pretty rocky. Smashing someone's face in with a soup can is typically a symptom of a bad marriage, not the cause.

I guessssss, but still.  weird time for a woman to say "I'll take my chances with 2 kids out there rather than stay with a guy who is willing to beat people to death so we can eat"

I mean, he loved them enough to kill himself once they left.  He is a ginger pitbull who freaks out on other kids but is willing to die for his owners.  You don't get rid of that thing when the S hits the fan.  But other wise good epi except for him boning the girl.  That's annoying.

Agree with Limestone, but that's why that lady and her kids are dead tho.  Live and learn ('cept for ungrateful ladies with ass kicking husbands, 'cause they and their kids rough ridin' die).

True. The problem is the show's current pacing. If they had spent more than 2 minutes developing his backstory, showing all the other things he probably did to scare his family off, it might have made more sense. But the current show runners / writers have a really bad habit of taking good ideas and rushing through them to quick conclusions. It's like they've overcompensated for the snail pace of seasons 2 and 3 at the farm/prison.

The Governor becomes "Brian" for two or three episodes, then he's the same flat Governor again. Terminus was a good concept... wrapped up in 2 or 3 episodes. The potential consequences of eating zombie meat was an interesting idea... nullified the very next episode. I'm guessing Beth and Carol will be rescued next week? After 2 episodes.

Adding on to KSUW's comment about finishing a storyline too quickly.....I was disappointed in this episode.  I think we all pretty much suspected Eugene of being a fraud but the "Going to DC" storyline could have literally taken the show in a different direction.  Now that storyline is done so of course Abraham's group will make their way back to Rick's group and they can sit around a campfire and say Yup, here we still are in Georgia doing the same crap.

I disagree and do not think the storyline is done.  He still thinks (even though he is not a scientist) that the best hope for this disease and any answer would be in D.C.  He's a smart, weird dude and the group might think he is on to something after they get over the fact that he lied to protect himself.  To me it seems like this group feels safer on the move considering what has happened to them (or any other group's attempt) to settle down and establish a community.  I almost feel like they are at a point that they need a purpose.  That purpose might finally be to find a cure (or at least get answers).  Nothing else has worked for them.  What better place to start that search than D.C.?

Any cure plot line is dumb at this point.  If the CDC in Atlanta is blowing itself up, it isn't because they were on verge of anything.

This. But I did like the story around that. Was amazing to see that in my initial binge and not have to wait week to week.

Do zombies up north freeze?
How long has it been since the initial outbreak? These cars all start up way too easy.

It's an abbreviated version of what happened in the comics. Wife is actually ex wife and the doods ginger killed had raped her. Wife and kids left after the saw him kill 3 people with a soup can only to get eaten by zombies 10 ft from the door.

This is something that probably should have been explained with 2-3 lines of dialogue.  Apparently they explained on the talking dead that they had been neighbors before the outbreak who raped the wife and daughter while Abraham was out scavenging.  They really shouldn't have to rely on the post-episode show to fill in the gaps.  I finished watching the episode thinking they had maybe broken in and tried to steal from the group.

..................................

I continue to struggle with the entire "oh no, zombies!" thing since they know all you have to do is smear on some zombie blood or walk around around with a pet zombie and you are good to go. I was yelling at the tv like I was watching a horrible call during a game when they were fighting over "zombies ahead....forget saving mankind, guess we should turn around" JUST GET OUT YOUR ZOMBIE LEASH ARGGGHHHHH
I want to wake up in a city that never sleeps, etc.

This is a good point.  The next bus you find, just strap a bunch of zombos to the sides and stuff.  You could basically just pleasure cruise where ever after that.

Basically a Carnival pleasure cruise, with slightly worse smell but slightly better food.

It would be pretty unpalatable though, no?  When you are in a bind or the right circumstances arise, you would do it every time, but it would be towards the end of the list of things that you would want to do.

Has Maggie mentioned Beth at all this season?  Her sister's missing but presumed alive, so she and Glen decide to hitch a ride to DC.

This is probably my biggest thing. Did Daryl never tell Maggie that he was with Beth and that she was taken? If not, Daryl is a dick.
