Wichita State is a small time garbage commuter school with no money.  At least SC overpaid Frank and its in the SEC.

wichita state pays their baseball coach twice as much as we pay ours.

Yep.  How does Hill's salary stack up in the BigXII?  He made $210K + ~$50K in bonuses this year.

See that UT pays Garrido $1mil.  how bout everybody else?

Would assume that Hill's gonna be asking for a new contract.  His 5-year ends in 2015.

Do other colleges play baseball?  If so, do any of the good ones pay their coaches?  If so, other than TX, do any of them pay their coach more that we pay Hill?

I am all for fair, I just want to get a gauge of this sitch nationally.

Every SEC program pays more than KSU.  Most of em pay double or triple.

wichita state pays their baseball coach twice as much as we pay ours.

The difference being that WSU has to try and make money on baseball, otherwise it's all on basketball.  Cue enraged ShockerNet meltdown about K-State sucking on the major conference teat.   Hey man, had WSU not pussed out, had they decided to bite the bullet like K-State did, they may actually be in Louisville type situation.   But they rely so much on local corporate largesse for everything and there was no stomach for football.

I thought their entire football program died in a plane crash.

True, but they could have gone out there and replaced them with juco's and Smith Center kids or whatev.....we do it every rough ridin' year.

The plane crash killed half the team in 1970.  They didn't drop football until after the 1986 season.  They had more than enough time to recover.  The issue was that then A.D. Lew Perkins didn't want to invest in the program and considered it a financial drain.

Side note, in the last match up with KSU, they beat the 'Cats led by Jim Dickey (who was fired the next week after KSU lost to Northern Iowa.

They next year, KSU brought in Stan Parrish from Marshall.  No need to discuss how things turned out during the Air Parrish/Air Perish era at KSU stadium..

I mean, Jesus.  For years, baseball was a vehicle to sell $1 hot dogs a few times every year.

It was noted on TV the other day that Hill got KSU into the tourney (regionals) three years in a row.  For a northern school, that is a rarity (only 3 have done it, apparently).  Now, they tourney is larger than it was back in the day.  But, just had to note it that at least Hill has made KSU somewhat relevant in baseball.

Well, yeah, there's a reason this thread is in the topic "other sports we don't care about unless we are winning."  But, still $100K raise is nothing in Titletown.   :kstategrad:

With a quick Google search, I found all the salaries within the last year (minus Baylor).  Accuracy not guaranteed.

WVU ~$150K
KU ~$185K
OU ~$295K
OSU ~$300K
TCU ~$433K
TTU ~$190K
UT ~$1 mil

TCU and Texas have history, OSU has money, OU has consistency.  Not sure Hill deserves to be paid more than the OU coach after one good season.

I don't care horribly much about baseball but when any program has success, we should try to retain that talent within reason.  The strength of our athletics department as a whole will help with $$$, facilities, coaching hires, and recruiting in the important programs.

I agree that 300k-ish seems reasonable.  Then lay on some big ass incentives because we want results

This times four billion.  Keep those booze sales going, and you'll see baseball out-earn women's basketball in a rough ridin' heart beat.

If we can dump 3 million into a rowing facility, we can pay Brad $300K through 2023.

I'd cut Deb's salary in half and give that cash to Hill.

It's ridiculous that we're paying her that much money.

Agree, I would of use all those laptop, mean to the straight ones rumors to negotiate a buyout and hire one of the former local players for $250K
