Cats drop opener 6-3 to Ohio State.
Observations from Kissimee:
Cats out hit the buckeyes 9 to 6 and really got better over the course of the game. Bryce Ward took the loss giving up 3 runs in 3 innings (all 3 runs gave up in the 3rd.) Tyler McKay replaced Ward and really struggled throwing 40 pitches and giving up 3 runs in 2/3 an inning. Nick Johns replaced him and got the Cats out of the 4th inning. Real standout of the game was Jared Marolf who threw 4 outstanding innings of shutout baseball. Tyler Eckberg came in the ninth and threw a scoreless inning. Offensive standouts were definetly Cam Thompson, the left handed batting freshman who plays centerfield and bats leadoff had 2 hits. Rollette also had a single and a double, he really needs to work on getting his throws down to second, but did throwout one base stealer. Im interested to see the rest of the weekend because you could see the batters grow more confidence with every at bat.
