Took the first two on the road against No. 31 RPI UC-Irvine - not too shabby. A sweep would certainly help our NCAA chances, but we'd probably still need to win at least two out of our final three Big 12 series to have a good chance (Tech, OSU, TCU).

I will give Hughes credit - this team had the potential to be dreadful and he's gotten them to be competitive with a chance at NCAAs...

We're up to 67 in the RPI!

And, poor UC Irvine, losing the series to us dropped them from 31 down to 44. We have UC Riverside tomorrow (257 RPI) and Tech this weekend, which is ranked in the top 25 in the polls, but is 65 in RPI.

West Virginia is currently the top team in the Big 12 at No. 23 in the RPI - the league is really down this year (Texas getting swept at home by the Oklahoma team we swept is as good of an indicator of that fact as any).

Yeah, that RPI isn't close to good enough. We're not going to make it without winning either the regular season or getting the auto bid.

Need West Virginia to lose some games before I start getting excited about a big 12 regular season championship chase. I kinda wonder how we’ll do in the Big 12 Tournament. We’ll likely have win or finish runner up to get in the tourney. Since I’m about to have my 2nd child and I’m taking time off work to watch him, I’ll maybe sneak in some time to watch the tournament.

Great series win. Gotta wait two weeks for Oklahoma State. Currently, a little far back probably to catch West Virginia sadly especially since we have Oklahoma State and TCU left.

We're 4 games above .500 in conference and wouldn't make a 64 team tournament if it started today.

Pete Hughes sucks and the Big 12 really sucks this year.

But... considering Hughes was 26-46 in Big 12 play entering this year (.361 win %) and taking into account the ludicrous extension Mean Gene gave him... the fact that we're 4 games over .500 with two series to play is an incredibly welcome surprise.

K-State has had exactly five winning league seasons (1974, 1990, 2009, 2010, 2013) in the last 50 years. I'll be hoping for three rainouts vs. Okie State to ensure we get No. 6.
