Also, since this is full of spoilers, what was the deal with the rough ridin' dumbass Martell trying to steal the dragons? Seems like GRRM kind of half-assedly devoted some time to him as a way to get the dragons loose.

Welp.

Back to the lady in red.

It goes to rough ridin' part 41 now: http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/topic/80880-rlj-v41/

41 threads.  See, this is why I can't do that.  I will finish reading and realize that I haven't eaten in three days and my wife would have called me in as a missing person.

Somebody had to die in ADWD. If it's not going to be Jon Snow, it might as well be some character that wasn't introduced earlier than the 5th book.

Do you guys think Ramsay really has Mance and the spearwives, or do you think they got away?

Ramsay is a liar.

Yes, he obviously doesn't have Stannis. He might have Mance, though.

Ramsay is going to be the main antagonist during Jon Snow's rise.

He has mance.  That would help him be the antagonist to Jon.

Yeah, he has to have either Mance or at least one of the spearwives, or he wouldn't realize Mance was the bard. We know he doesn't have Stannis, though, or he wouldn't be asking Jon for Reek. If Melisandre brings Jon back to life and makes him her new champion, I don't think Stannis will like that much.

Cersei is consistently bad. (so far)

Yes, would take a LHC Bill Snyder type turnaround for this to change

Yeah, but there are gaps.  Do we discuss spoiler stuff in this thread?

WHERE ARE THE GAPS

Continuing from stupid TV thread where there are a bunch of retards that can't read:

Cersei has shown that she knows her son is a monster and has shown that she wants out of all the red keep stuff by trying to claim herself as heir to their homeland.  he father refused her, her bro has shunned her, and she feels she is losing her son to his new wife.  She is running out of friends and leverage.  I think we will see a big opportunity for a major story change in her.  The last book(or two, maybe, after reading they flow together a little in my head) it was mentioned a couple times that she knew what her son was but she seemed to take the stance that she couldn't do anything because he was her son.  Basically she is in a corner and doesn't seem to have any options.

I felt bad for Cersei for about half a second when she had to walk naked through town; but then I remembered that she deserved it.

So, if Jon is Lyanna and Rhaegar's son, will his warg powers come in to play with the dragons?

Can you image Jon with control over Rhaegal  :excited:

OK, yeah that would be awesome. I want Dany to end up with 2 men - Jon & her nephew or whatever that everyone thought was dead. (1 person for each dragon like that one Aegon? had 2 wives/sisters.) Yeah it's incesty but not as incesty as past Targaryens.

Based upon the fact that Bran can warg into Hodor, I would assume that it is entirely possible in the world of Westeros. Whether GRRM takes it there or not is the issue.

So, I just finished book 5 a few weeks ago and just found this thread again.. but I've been led to believe that Danny's "nephew or whatever" that Tyrion was going down the river with for a little while might be the "false dragon" that Danny was warned about in her prophecy...

Yeah.  I think I will read the last one at least.  I googled book 6 to see if there was a projected time for release yet and I think it said late 2014, but that was moved from late 2013, so who knows when it will finally come.  I am pretty confident in saying that GRRM won't finish it.  He is old and has subscribed to the Fitz method of taking care of one's self in old age.

Yeah, I keep getting confused between Frog (Quentyn Martell?) who somehow had "dragon blood" and Griff (Aegon?) who is Dany's nephew.

Yeah, he's the one that offered to be Dany's husband then let out her dragon (because he thought his dragon blood would protect him) and it killed him. But how was he related to the Targgaryens?

nephew of Rhaegar's wife Elia, however she's only a Targaryen by marriage if I remember correctly.

I just found that he's related to them back further in his bloodline.

"I can trace my lineage back to the first Daenerys, the Targaryen princess who was sister to King Daeron the Good and wife to the Prince of Dorne."

Yeah, I keep getting confused between Frog (Quentyn Martell?) who somehow had "dragon blood" and Griff (Aegon?) who is Dany's nephew.

Aegon is *supposedly* Dany's nephew..
She receives a warning from Quaithe (the chick with her face hidden by a mask all the time)

"The glass candles are burning. Soon comes the pale mare, and after her the others. Kraken and dark flame, lion and griffin, the sun's son and the mummer's dragon. Trust none of them. Remember the Undying. Beware the perfumed seneschal."

The glass candles are burning at the Citadel in Oldtown.. The pale mare was the bloody flux running rampant through slavers bay.. Kraken (Victarion Greyjoyh) and dark flame (Moqorro the red priest that Victarion saved from the shipwreck that Jorah and Tyrion were both in as well), Lion and Griffin (Tyrion and John Connington), Sun's Son (Quentyn) and Mummer's Dragon (Aegon).
