does he deserve even more "looks" etc or is it a less is more thing w/ him? 24/51 is pretty ridic plus there are times where we've been able to mismatch and back down his guy and then boom 2 pts. is he actually close to as good as his numbers over the past five games or just a ridic hot streak that he'll never match again? i mean the points, the boards the 8-3 asst/to ratio. three headed monster of angel, rod and southy? are we actually seeing a new star emerge?

I think he's about right. His impact in most shooting categories is 3rd on the team behind Rod and Angel.

Team Impact - Full Season.

Team Impact - Big 12 Games.

Yes to:
--deserves more looks
--seeing a new star emerge

No to:
--less is more thing
--ridic hot streak that he'll never match again

Southwell is good, but up to some point, his work habits apparently were not, so he didn't see much playing time.  IIRC, he was in Franks' doghouse early and often.

I sure would love to know how you figured this, and why its relevant to Shane today.

also Shane needs more minutes, he's been a top 3 player for us for the entirety of conference play, he's earned 30+ mpg. He can and should be taking minutes from more than one player.

I think he should get time at the three when Rod's not in the game.  Weber seems like he is less flexibile with moving guys around.  When Rod goes out with fouls my instinct would be to bring in Nino at the four and slide Shane to the three.  Weber just brings in Omari.   You've got to think Shane takes Rod's place on the wing next season it's probably his most natural position.

What kind of lunatic keeps Shanes sexy ass glued to the bench for two years, I feel so cheated, I bet Shane sat there thinking he could totally do better and help the cats if stinky fingers would just put him in and let him shoot.

i liked it last night.  at the end of the 1st when the ref called the foul on him.  and he contested it.  then, as only shane could do it, decided to ignore the ref and begin heading into the locker room.

The great thing about Shane is that he is able to do so many things well.  I would say that he is aggressive, but not necessarily in his shot.  He always seems to be looking to make a play and can accomplish that via backing down a smaller defender, shooting the j when they back off of him, or creating for others.  If Shane forces anything it is in his facilitation game, but even that is something that we can surely all live with.  His variety of skills also keeps him, imo, from trying to force shots.

Would a Shane who forces his shot more often be better for KSU?  I'm not sure.  His percentages would likely go down but I can't figure what the trade-off would be. Personally, I'm good with him taking what the defense gives shot-wise and facilitating when the open look isn't there.  It seems to be working well for him.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Shane is doing a much, much better job of not trying to make crazy passes that go out of bounds than he used to.

of course it was.  shane's reaction to it, however, was an incredible moment in southistory.

I liked how Shane was trying to convince the ref that HE had the ball & was trying to shoot it when HE got fouled...was awesome

I really enjoyed how, after he got fouled called on his break away, he and Nino decided it best to smile a bunch and stay on the floor for a second for effect.  Shane smiled his way into that Intentional.

They guy is fantastic.

Also, that time where Angel got fouled going to the basket and shane came over and high fived and they both started laughing about how it almost went in and stuff.  Shane is the on court version of the tunnel dance.  Just keeping it light.

I think he should take as many open looks as he gets from 3, which is what he's doing right now. I'm not seeing him pass up a bunch of open shots. He is looking to create his own shot from midrange a little more than he has in the past, but I don't think he should be much more aggressive in that area right now. Next year without Rodney may be another story, depending on what we get from our freshman/Omari.

Why do I feel as though this trend line would be headed up if he were playing more minutes, as in taking them away from facemask?  I don't know . . . maybe that is  rotational/lineup quandry we don't want.

Irving was nearly flawless in the minutes he got, aside from that one boneheaded turnover in the backcourt.

I'm a bit torn because there is tangible noticable differences in his game that would lead to you believe this current trend is not flukey.  It didn't get a lot of play, but somebody mentioned his shot trajectory when from flat to high arching.  That's one big example.  Also, I've always beleived Shane has a really big upside, so it shouldn't be shocking if he does become a star.

That said, I'll have to see him do it at the three without Rod there to deflect the attention before I'm 100% sold.  I do believe he's the legitmate third option now though.

Need a gif of when Shane was intentially fouled before he could get his windmill dunk off by Angel's bitch.

Shane was down, I was scared, and then he pops his head up a bit to look around and is smiling!
