When she was hired to teach at Harvard, they listed her as native American to artificially boost faculty diversity. When she was questioned about it, she said something to the effect that her grandmother thought they might have some Cherokee in them because they had high cheekbones.
The Cherokee tribe has officially said no, 0% Cherokee.
