the 10/7 Hamas attack was often compared to 9/11 for the US. In both the case of the US and Israel, the response has been arguably more harmful than the original "9/11", but it was done by the "good guys". So much like a good guy with a gun prevents bad guys with guns from doing things, the US and Israel are using 9/11-esque actions to prevent future 9/11's from bad guys
