I was just telling rick daris and Townie Cat that we needed a new scoreboard. Which means one of two things: 1. Captain Crap was eavesdropping on our conversation or 2. Captain Crap is Townie Cat's sock.

Ever since watching a few of the Bahamas bball tourney games this year, I've thought it would be cool to have purple lights on everywhere but the court, and bright lighting right on the court. Seems very DOOM to me.

Then pimp out the court with some purple under glow and stick some back lit powercats on the walls

Nice, new courts go for several hundred grand. Not sure how this one is installed, but I am guessing it is semi permanent and not like the old Ahearn courts that were easy to remove. So its not cheap, but if we had a donor want to give their  :th_twocents: and put a name on it we could swing that financially. Not sure if that is the best way to spend donor money though. The court isn't torn up or anything. Just could look a bit better.

If we had enough money they should blow up Bramlage so they could expand the south stands/ concourse. Then you could make really nice athletic department  building underneath or donor pimping place or something. Bramlage is really cramping the south side. The practice facility can stay (student dining center and athletic department offices are over there).

Then move games into Ahearn and renovate it. You can expand it on the west side, and the whole complex is begging for upgrades. I talked to one of the people in charge of the rec, and they wanted a new pool but didn't have the money. The city wanted to make a pool but didn't have all of the 20 mil it would cost. So basically do a major renno for Ahearn paid for with Basketball fundraising, and sell more donor suites/ pimp donors on the south endzone side to fund that part.

We wouldn't be able to do all of this for a few years due to $$$ but it is actually possible to do both financially and logistically.

It was built in the 80s so its not standardized like they have now. It something like anywhere between 3.75 x 3.75 and 4.25 x 4.25

Could make things a bit more difficult and $.

I don't hate it, just want something special, ya know? I'm cool with new scoreboard. Ours does blow

maybe combine all 4 bram screens together into one mega screen and put that over at the Toint.

or just pull it down as is and put in on that truck thing like someone brainstormed earlier
its been all but confirmed that the toint is getting one of the vb's from bsfs

Why in the world would the new daktronics deal not also include a new board for TFS?
no idea. when we did our "tour" of the WSC it was discussed that the south board coming down would be great for the baseball stadium. maybe they planned something with two boards one for replay one for stats. it was back in august so obviously things could have changed

That video board is 18 years old

What on earth?

1) the Bball court is 100% easy to remove. Think back to graduation weekend: graduation ceremonies were held in Bramlage on Sat and there was no court. On Sunday, we played a Bball game in Bramlage.

2) WTF are talking you about? A pool? What does that have to do with anything? The absolute last consideration for how to spend Ath Dept money should be whether we need a new pool for the Rec.

3) several hundred grand for a nice new court is not a good way to spend money, but $100 million-plus to renovate Ahearn and build all new facilities is the right answer?

4) the logistics of having coaches offices, weight room, medical staff, etc in the BTF, and then play games in Ahearn is ridiculous. The logistics of parking and traffic patterns for games at Ahearn would be a disaster.

Basically, I completely disagree with every one of your opinions.

Couldn't they just sand/repaint/stain that thing?  I mean, we don't need a brand new court.

Like, they did this at my high school one year.

Right, I redid all the hardwoods in my house a couple years back, and that was about 2/3s the square footage of a basketball court. Didn't cost anywhere near $100k. I know it's not exactly the same - I did not paint a big powercat on the floor, but they did have to remove all the baseboards, tape off all my cabinets, etc. The guy I used did a great job if the AD is interested.

The dark stain looks awful. No stain at all would be a big improvement.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

Oh really? So the dusty-ass old building that hasn't had anything in it but volleyball games for like a million years needs is begging for some upgrades huh? Welp, if you say so.

Good luck with your pool.

I figure we rent a few sanders from Home Depot, grab a few gallons of Minwax in an appropriate shade and we can knock this thing out in no time. We don't have a home game for a week...what's wrong with right now?

Stop talking about the color of the floor, goddammit!  Nobody gives a eff what it looks like as long as there aren't tree canopies (Nike U) or goat horns (non-uglies colorado aggie) drawn all over it.
