I got contacted on LinkedIn once by a competitor who wanted me to tell him all my employers secrets.  :driving:

And?

I asked for a job offer. He gave me the run around so I told him if he had any questions he could ask my boss.

What if it was just your boss going undercover to see which employees he could trust?

Then he has too much time on his hands?

Also I did a little research and made sure the guy/company was legit.

Good call on the Linkedin decision you guys. It helped me out a lot at my last job in getting meetings with higher ups. It's also helped me recently as well. I got hit up by a National Director from one of our competitors today and he wants to talk to me tomorrow about a regional director position here in KC. I'm a little nervous, but what do I have to lose?  :dunno:

I've been getting a lot of hits by recruiters lately off of LinkedIn. I don't have the heart to tell some of these places, I'm not interested. However, one isn't taking no for an answer. It's payless corporate and I've told them several times I wouldn't be interested if I couldn't work from home on some days. Even though they tell me this isn't possible, they want me to come in to meet their team next Tuesday. Even though, they had rejected my request for a higher salary, gas mileage, etc. Very strange. They sent me an invite to meet with all of the execs on Tuesday. Are they not listening to my concerns? What game are they playing? I never said I was ready to come in. I had two phone interviews with HR and the VP and that's it. What in the world?

it is possible that there are linkedin serial killers looking to step up their craigslist serial killing to a less anonymous social network for the thrill of it

Yeah, I get that. But it's like I've told this company a billion times that I live in KC and I'm not moving to Topeka. I'm about to tell them to kick rocks.

Just don't show up. Or do you think you'll get LinkedIn blacklisted or something?

My favorite part of LinkedIn is looking up people I've worked with and reading their efforts to make themselves sound important. You know, things like liberal use of words like "executive", "managed", "led", and "oversaw". And when I see it, I'm all like, "WTF I don't think so."

I got an email about a class action lawsuit against LinkedIn because it sends reminder emails that people did not agree to receive.

NOTICE OF PENDING CLASS ACTION AND NOTICE OF PROPOSED SETTLEMENT
PERKINS V. LINKEDIN CORP.

How much money can I get for this?
