one things i've noticed, Frank's defense was back cut to death in a lot of our big game losses.  oscar's defense hasn't been allowing that.

Bill Self will find a way to make sure Mac has the ball in his hands when Will is guarding him. At least that's what I would do.

Will oscar junk it up a bit and keep whom ever is guarding KU's nonshooting 4 in the lane?  Bill will go small without hesitation but it could allow a Shane/McG & Releford/Mac cross match.  Of course,  if we are switching everything the matchups hardly matter.

If this game is played small I feel it will be decided by Shane and Nino

Idea 1: Box and 1 on Mac (with Sugar Shane following him around)

Reasonable Idea 2: What has to happen:
Angel-EJ
Shane-Mac
Sprads-Releford
Gruds-KY
JO-Withey

Maybe go soft full court trap for a stretch to slow them down (watch for oops Oh God that is scary).

I am very worried about our hedges getting destroyed and if OU got 4 points off inbounds plays for dunkshots WOOF.  We will definitely need to be hyper aggressive against EJ, sag off KY and double down on Withey.  We have to hope that Releford/EJ do not hit open 3's and JO needs to go beast mode.  Also, we just got physically dominated by OU on the boards.  That will be a recipe for disaster against KU.  So other than that...

I'm not sure I'd want Sprads and Angel on the floor at the same time unless both EJ and Tharpe are on the court together.  Releford could expose Sprads on defense, and don't even get me started on McLemore.  Also, I wouldn't want McGruder on Young.  Young's liability on defense is going up against bigger, stronger post players.  Plus, you negate McGruder's defensive ability by putting him on KU's weakest offensive player.

OregonHawk, who else does Bill play as a small 4 or is it just Releford?

Andrew White in mop up duty, but other than that, just Releford.

Don't let KU get out on the break, they have no one in the half court that is jaw dropping good.

Beems, everyone on your team would expose Sprads on defense. A game of knockout would expose Sprads on defense.

So, you're saying, "Stay the eff out of the paint and don't feed the post." I don't think KU's guards are going to be able to cause a lot of turnovers on the perimeter, but I can imagine them doubling down on Gip and JO and stripping them multiple times as our bigs are sitting stationary with the ball wondering how the hell they are going to score over Withey. Also, if we try to take the ball to the rack Withey will just swat it out to Mac who will go dunk over Sprads on the fast break. Hopefully we are "on" from deep tomorrow.

So, getting Releford in foul trouble (easier said than done yet still possible as he will be McG's primary defender) could really hurt KU on the offensive end as well.

Honest question: Who guarded Boyton?

Don't remember but McLemore is twice the player that Boynton is.  Kenny is a chucking fool, BMc is amazingly efficient.

Also I hate box and 1 against good rebounding teams.  Outside of the obvious, the worst thing that could happen is a momentum shifting put back dunk.

am I a big, dumb, goofy idiot with LBBIQ by thinking Martavious might be good on Maclemore?  Hadn't seen it addressed yet, maybe for good reason

I love Tay but he is a bit overrated defensively.  If you ignore this he doesn't have the length to defend McLemore and he won't get enough minutes for it to even be an issue.

I have no doubt that Tay will get a shot to guard McClemore at some point.

When Releford goes to the bench, we're a completely different team.

Not enough to focus on it as a key at all. He has only fouled out once and averages under 2 fouls a game
