shooters gotta shoot dax

I don't consider Angel a shooter.

Nothing about his shot tells me he's going to shoot his way out of it . . . while _fan brings up a good point about Angel just throwing up slop and some similarities to Jake, but you could watch Jake shoot and tell it was just a matter of time, don't get the same vibe at all with ArT.

Pullen's 3PT% progression: .303, .335, .396, .381.

Angel so far: .317, .323.

We'll see if Angel can get to the upper 30s like Jake, but no doubt in my mind he can be 35% or better as a 3PT shooter.

And kind of interesting that kenpom's player similarity scale for 13 Angel lists 09 Pullen as 2nd closest.

I just don't see how anybody could watch more than a couple minutes of one of our games and not realize that Angel is by far the best player on the team.

Team Art is off the deep end.  They've been taking tips from John and Fake in the birther pit on how to defend their position without common sense.

Hopefully the trend is up both inside and outside the arc.

Yeah, it has to improve too.

FWIW here are the 2PT numbers. Clearly Jake benefited in year one from playing with Beasley/Walker.

Pullen 2PT% progression: .496, .436, .450, .461.

Angel: .397, .365.

As far as improvement, IMHO he needs to get better at using his body to draw contact and get more FT attempts.

He reminds me a bit of Pullen earlier in his career, he is great at getting into the lane but too often throws up attempts that have little chance of going in but is also out of control enough that he's not going to get a foul call.

Had this convo with friend while watching the game on Saturday.  Seemed like Jake got a lot better at this his last year especially.  I think Angel can do it too, hopefully that is something they will have him working on.

We have to remember we're comparing Angel to one of the best ever at K-State when comparing with Jake, but I think he can be a similar player.
