Angel's ability (and threat) to get to the rim is what makes him most dangerous IMHO. 1/3 of his shots are lay-ups and 1/2 are 3PTAs, which is about right for a dynamic PG. As far as improvement, IMHO he needs to get better at using his body to draw contact and get more FT attempts.
He reminds me a bit of Pullen earlier in his career, he is great at getting into the lane but too often throws up attempts that have little chance of going in but is also out of control enough that he's not going to get a foul call.
Pullen's 2PT% gradually rose over his last 3 years; 43.6% his SO year, then 45% and 46.1% his JR and SR years. However, more importantly his FT rate went from 31% as a SO to 51.5% and 49.1% his JR and SR seasons.
Angel's 2PT% is currently down, from 39.7% to 36.5%, but more importantly his FT rate is also down, from 47.7% to 33.6%. 3PT% has stayed about the same, around 32%.
Angel deserves tons of credit for increasing his Assist% and lowing his TO%, now he needs to get his scoring numbers and FT rate up. I firmly believe that will come as the season progresses. I have to think injuries have hurt his development here as well, especially explosiveness and ability to finish at the rim.
