I'm going to be pretty disappointed if we don't see a lot of reverse passes and double passes and halfback passes.  snyder clearly has the mind to be able to throw some pretty funky crap at a defense and it appears that we have 2 very capable qb's that could scare the eff out of any defense.  I wouldn't be upset at all if #life turned into a "slash" and just bounced around from qb to wr to rb and made big 12 d-coordinators  :runaway:

So you're looking for a team that just randomly shuffled in different QBs regardless of the situation and was successful?  No, that has not happened.

I'm looking for examples of teams that had two really good QBs, and both QBs played a lot of minutes.  Seems a lot of people are convinced that Waters will start but that Sams will be in the game quite a bit as a QB, WR, RB, etc.)  I'd love to see it.  From everything I've seen/heard, Sams is as good an athlete as we have on this team.  But, for whatever reason, this scenario doesn't tend to play out much in college football.  the backup is the backup except for a handful of situational plays or in mop-up duty.

This is how I predict Sams is used.  For one reason, Snyder probably doesn't want to risk injuring his backup QB, considering our starters tend to get dinged up fairly regularly.

we have to be careful here, the reason #life came here and didnt go to OU LSU FSU was to play qb, doesnt look good to other "athlete" type players if he doesnt play any qb

I would love to see something where they are both on the field like 90%+ of the time we are on O.  Both can run.  Both can throw.  Add a component to the play call that indicates who lines up under center, etc.

Would be fantastically entertaining.

Don't really have much interest in subbing them in for each other a bunch unless it is because we are going to set records for the most snaps per game ever and one QB simply can't do it all.

Remind me...  Were you a woodwind or horn in the POWL?

Neither.

When Bill came back, he was on the radio in KC and said that he would love to find a way to do what I described.  Was hoping that this was the year.

Maybe he would "love to find a way to do what you described", but it won't happen.  The vast majority of our offense is run from offense based on either veer or single-wing principles, both of which generally require a good lead blocking back.

Point being, you eliminate FAR too much of the offense with them both in the game at the same time simply due to the fact that nobody in his right mind would consistently line up either of them as a point of attack lead blocker.

Both of them are athletic enough to put in the slot, though.

Mangino ran an offense with 2 QBs on the field at all times in 2007. He never put Meier under center, but he was almost always on the field.

Winning is all that matters.  Many top athletes go to schools where they believe they will start and become perennial backups.

Kids want to be winners.  They don't care about some other guy they don't know who didn't get what he wanted and threw a fit.

Yeah, but the difference was that Meier was essentially not a QB in 2007.  If Sams is being converted to WR, great analogy.  But, I'm assuming Sams is still our backup QB, first and foremost.

Meier was still KU's backup QB.

I'll tell you what, I want our guy Daniel to be a stud QB. But, if there's one guy on our team that I would trust to take over for stud greatest Wildcat of all time Chris Harper it's our guy Daniel.

I could see Sams being a red zone / goal line qb.

So our own Belldozer.   :sdeek:

If Waters is a badass and stuff, I would like to see Sams as a WR.  He needs to be on the field as much as possible.  Make him into a Tavon Austin or something.

the way we play our QBs get hurt all the time. I'm guessing one of these guys gets grant gregory'd this season no matter what and I'm happy we have a good backup (hopefully good anyway)
I was just lurking and enjoying this thread, but this post is to good to pass up without commenting.  And by that I mean I just wanted to give you one of these.. and maybe a couple of these...

You're being Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) and it's because you think I was mean to you earlier.  I get it, but it's stupid to plant so hard in the ground on this.  I haven't even stated anything other than saying I would like to see what Bill himself would like to see.

Your effort on this is not well directed.

You will have other opportunities.  I don't always think before I post.

No.  Actually, I'd already let that go... I don't hold grudges and that's a whole nother issue.

We know that "Bill's gonna Bill" and we also know that generally speaking, Coach is VERY risk averse.   I was simply pointing out why I don't see them being on the field much at the same time, unless it's to line Sams up in the slot as Nuts Kicked suggested earlier.  Regardless, you're almost screaming "Its a pass play" if/when you bring them into the game at the same time, imho.
