o god what if bill knows that sams is going to be injury plagued his entire career and he's been preparing for that by giving waters starts in easy[sic] games?

klein threw more his senior year, not saying its the reason why his carries were down but that along with how much we really ground down the play clock last year obviously means less plays overall.  i will never not think that snyder is going to grind his qb into the ground and not give a crap about doing so

I rewatched the LaLa game last night but started to get bored so I ended up just fast forwarding the game until Dsams was in at QB.

So yeah, waters is boring and sams is amazing.

I'm fine with waters just barelling into defenders if he ever feels like trying that. his curl into a ball and fall to the ground move isn't my favorite.

thats the part that kills me, i know its been discussed ad nauseum but eff if there is no rhyme or reason to how bill has played sams why not let him get the 4th and 1 play calls. that crap is unacceptable

i mean it honestly could be because he doesn't want to run the risk of spaghetti braining him before conference play even starts.

gfa wins this round

i think the coaches might have actually learned something from collin. in his junior season, he only had two games where he rushed the ball less than 20 times and it pretty much killed him. his senior season they cut way back on his carries to (in my opinion) try and keep him healthier.

junior klein-
+30 carries-one game
+20 carries-nine games
less than 20 carres-two games

senior klein-
+30 carries-zero
+20 carries-three games
less than 20 carries-nine games

overall, senior klein had over 100 less carries than junior klein and averaged .8 yds more per carry.
I never would've guessed that. great stats, rd!

I suppose we can all hold out hope that Snyder actually believes Sams is the better qb and just doesn't want him to get hurt for nothing (non-con).

waters just doesn't seem to have "it". like, he seems unconfident and doesn't seem like a "winner" right now. a lot of that may be because he isn't a winner right now. maybe playing this super pud UMASS team will:
A) get his TD:INT ratio back to at least 1:1
B) get him some confidence from an easy W
C) make bill less of a complete dumbass at play calling

My fave pass of the season so far. I love that little TE run-pass option in the seam. V. nifty.

LOL

So you guys think Snyder intentionally kept his 'best' player off the field even in a loss to an FCS team?

 is like the calling card of terrible message boarders. you see him in a post and 99% of the time it's by somebody awful.

Given that it seemed Colin was super mumped up hurt a couple times last season, do you think Bill has been trying to implement a little caution into his QB's mentality?  I mean, Waters has that down, and that could be a FP thing, but the Sams slide really made me think.

you can't teach the kind of caution waters has shown in the running game. you either have that or you don't.

It's probably why the NFL is so heavily on to Waters now. Word on the NFL street is that they can teach anyone the game, but not everyone can learn how to ball up at the right time.

I don't think he was trying to be cautious on that 4th down, he just didn't have the skills to gain the yardage needed.

didn't he only need 1 yard for a wildcat 1st down?

Great point. All he needed was 1 yard for a Wildcat 1st down.

Is that the one where he could have like dug in and dove forward pretty easily, but instead went partially limp and kinda just slumped forward weakly?

That goddam fourth and inches call we can't stop talking about is the least of my rough ridin' worries about Bill being a dumbass this season.

well yeah.  I mean is it really even trolling if it's obvious?

but he also may be the perfect dumbass that everyone's been looking for.  quite the pickle.
