I do hate 1:2 TD:INT ratios if that's what you mean

I do as well, but it's not what I meant.  too small a sample size don't you think?

Are Sams' game stats too small of a sample too?  Are we only getting the best out of him and all the rest would be what drags his avg down?

Umm yes?  Isn't that how that stat crap works?

The Waters/Sams debate really brings the tucks out of the woodwork.  I especially love how the tucks just completely gloss over Waters' interception numbers, like it's no big deal that he has four INT's in his first two games against below average competition.  Sams is the prototypical K-State stud option QB, but for whatever reason, Snyder wants to pass the ball this year (BITB's theory is that Snyder is preparing for a 2014 championship run).

Obviously not or he would be playing more at QB.
said hating Francis about a young Ell Roberson and Collin Klein.

That's not a fair statement because of the garbage that was battling those two.  Waters is a damn good QB.
Dunn was juco player of the year too iirc.  And how do you know Waters is a damn good QB, considering sample sizes and all that junk?

Seems like always clamoring for the scrambling QB is pretty tuckish...

Obviously, given a bigger sample size, Sams will just get worst and Waters will just get better.

I think Francis is really being dumb here unless his base point is that Waters runs so pathetically rough ridin' bad that he has to be better than what we have seen so far and that Sams is too dramatically rough ridin' studly to be true.

I tend to differentiate between "scrambling" and "running over defender's faces for multiple touchdowns."

I like Sams.  He's electric.  But I like knowing we have a dude than can sling it.  Seems to be the thing these days is to have a quarterback that can beat you with his arm.

It's my humble opinion that Waters is better than his current INT:TD ratio and he will improve, but Sams is better now and will improve more and that anyone who disagrees with me is either racist or bad at analyzing football.

Why can't Sams sling it?

Yeah, I would probably fire up the ol' firebillsnyder.com right now if I thought Waters was actually as awful as his stats indicate so far (sample size like francis points out). However, I agree that Sams is better right now and has a better upside making our team better today and in the future.

Why is slinging amazingly required?  I mean, we were one Baylor game away from an NC game with a very good running QB last year.

Why can't we try that again?  Sams seems to be a decent passer and is obvsly an amazing runner.  I mean, it was just last year.  Has college football moved on in the last 9 months?

Until we meet up against Okie State and Baylor and they shut down our running game and shred our defense.  We have never been a team built for the comeback.  Maybe having Waters changes that for us.   :dunno:

Maybe Sams keeps us from having to play comeback?  Maybe Sams running the ball helps control the clock keeping other high powered offenses' scores lower so that we don't have as far to catch up.

Maybe Sams can hit Locket and Thompson on the deep routes as well as our TE or Hubert for the dink and dunks.

maybe we also score on a much higher percentage of possessions with Sams in the game v. Waters. (actually not maybe, this is another real life data point)

talking points on both sides SD.  that 9 minute drive NDSU orchestrated certainly didn't help.  What does DSAMS do with 28 seconds left?  I have some wishful thinking of what could have happened but honestly I don't see him or Klein for that matter fairing any better in that spot.

I guess I'd rather go 11-1 because we couldn't pass the ball than lose to a Division 2 school because we couldn't run it.  ya know?   :dunno:
