This is a dumb bracket and I will riot if it happens.

Duke would murder KU in the elite 8, by the way.

I think St. Louis would beat KU in the sweet 16.

the breads would beat the hawks in the round of 32.

Meh. We're gonna be all :ohno: no matter who we meet in the second round. And a 2 seed versus a 3 just doesn't matter that much. I just don't want to fall back to a 4.

We can lock down a 3 with a win over the Pokes. If not, we've got some work to do in the B12T. To reach a 2, I'd say we probably need 4 more wins and a little help from the teams currently slotted above us.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

i wish so hard they would put 8-mizzou with 1-ku in sprint center. i would have tickets to that game and it would be so much fun.

Yeah that is never going to happen.

Why do you think it's unlikely? I thought the committee liked "stories" or whatever. I have really LBBIQ. TIA

Wouldn't happen because the NCAA likes to protect their top seeds by not putting teams in the same pod that are that close to the host site.

We probably need one more Top 50 (or better) win to lock up the 3 seed. Either win at Stillwater or our 2nd game in the Big 12 (likely against OU or OSU) and we should be good. Get two of those and maybe sneak into a 2, but probably need to win 3 in KC for a 2.

Speaking of Big 12, of the bottom 4 the team I least want to play is Texas. I know we just kicked them at their place and they were playing Baylor, but Kabongo seems to be getting back integrated and they had a lot of guys play really well last night. If they get some sense of urgency and Kabongo plays under control they can give a top 4 seed fits.

The other teams around/ahead of K-State could do the cats some big favors by continuing to drop games.  Michigan in particular, while they beat the cats they have regressed and I wouldn't be surprised to see them drop their last two at Purdue and home against Indiana.  They don't play team ball on offense anymore.  Burke had to be superman for them to win three of their last four.  If he'd have just had an average night (by his standards) in any of those games they would have lost.  It's not sustainable.  The game he did have an average night (18 points/6 assists) they lost to winless/worst team in the Big Ten, Penn State.

Don't want to play Texas right now, but wouldn't our second game be against the winner of 3&6 seeds?  If I'm looking at that right we would play either okie st or baylor in our second game of the tournament.

How is it we are now 3-4 vs top 25 when it was 1-4 last week?  Oklahoma state is still outside the top 25 RPI according to that chart.

How is it that Oklahoma moved into the top 25 when last week they weren't in the top 25?

You're right about the second game...but if we're the 2 seed, our first game would be against the 7/10 winner - and by beating Baylor last night, it looks like Texas is going to end up with the 7 seed (unless WVU somehow beats OU or ISU...).

the relative strength of college basketball this season compared to past seasons has nothing to do with OU moving into the top 25 this week.

that said, my question was a rhetorical joke made to mock deez nutz dumbass question.

This has nothing to do with upsets or cinderella stories.  The NCAA can get those regardless of where they place teams.  The best you will likely see is a 15 or 16 seed playing close to home, but then it is not as big of a deal because the chances of them winning are so slim.  Putting a potential KU and Missouri matchup in the Kansas City pod undermines the reward of being a high seed.  The higher seeded team does not have the 'home court' advantage like they normally would.

Make faces all you want but it is true at least for 1 and 2 seeds.  Now I have no doubt the NCAA would love a second weekend match-up between KU and Mizzou.

The people who place the teams in the brackets are not different from the selection committee.  So, you are saying that the selection committee would actively try and match Mizzou and KU?  I do not believe that.

I apologize for not checking the full RPI ratings in advance.  I had OSU on my mind because of the kim carnes exchange with  kevinjamesfan6 earlier in the thread but then realized after I posted that it would not make sense anyway because we have not played them a second time yet.  Thanks everyone for clearing that up.  I'm happy that OU got into the top 25.

Actively? Not any more so than the selection committee looks at any match-ups of the tournament.  I do think they would be excited for the buzz a match-up like that would generate.

He shouldn't have apologized.  Being sorry about being a dumass is for pussies.  Being a dumbass means never having to say you're sorry.  It's pretty much one of the only benefits of being a dumbass.  I would have enjoyed if he had really gotten up in your face about it instead.  Just straight up in your mix, squared right off with the ol' 'clamster.  Mush, mush, mushin' away.  He didn't do that though.

everyone is happy-1.
