He'd be nearly perfect as a JYC.

Yeah, 6'5" non-shooting (6-of-38 career from 3) guard known for his defense and athleticism.  Right in our breadbasket.

Well, Dom only has 1 more year. Somebody has to fill this role in 2012.

Yep, would be a great Dom II.

I have no idea why anyone would prefer Shipman to Babb.

One fits exactly what our coach looks for in players and one is the exact opposite :dunno:

I don't think the "Babb has no athleticism" talking point is valid.

True.  I think the "Babb has the menality of Brown/Anderson" might be though.  Probably why we never offered him.

has anyone watched shipman?   he isn't the physical and athletic presence that sutton is.  not even close, imo.  he's a taller irving (whose defense is completely overrated).

You're right, when I watched them vs BYU he looked almost exactly like Irving with a little more size.  Might as well build some hype though.

I think we didn't offer him the first time because it was the summer of the staff completely f*cking overestimating their ability to close.  He made more sense then than he does now.

I just like that he had 4 stars in high school!   :excited:

Seriously, I would take either Babb or Shipman to fill the roster, but I bet both go to lower level schools.

The problem is that we've already got average-ish to below average-ish big 12 recruits lining our current commit lists and no elite level or at least above average-ish big 12 recruits are even mentioning us.  It's kind of like taking Irving/Russell...that's fine when you combo it with McGruds and Judge.

Well yeah, but I'm taking about the last ship for 10, which isn't likely to get filled with an elite.  I think both players, with a year off, have the potential to step in and contribute as juniors.  I'd rather this than picking up a Herrera or Gilbert right before next season starts.  Not excited about either, but I'm extremely doubtful that we're going to get an immediate impact for the last roster spot between now and August.

Completely with you on 11.  Need an elite or two.  (or ART and Nino need to be better than we think)

No, I agree, I just think that it highlights our recruiting problems/failures that we’re willing to give or would take giving a ship to a player like Shipman (regardless of his star ranking out of HS, he’s not really proven to be the player we thought or hoped) because  because we have nothing better on the ’11 horizon and don’t want to save it.

Maybe getting Shipman will be the first step in tapping the 'kids with dads who know Frank' pipeline?

Do you all really think that with this success and Frank being locked in, we cant attract any elite talent? Are there any "holdouts" at this point that could swing our way? CRAP, I figured that we have a solid coach and a commitment to roundball AND the success going for us.
We are K-State and we love to hire SHlTTY coaches.

Shipman is transfering from Florida. He seems like he would be a good fit for us. Do we want him???

SPC wants the mods to rename this thread "mystrans?" and pin it.   :users:

I will honestly do this if one more solid mystrans rumor starts.  Kind of because I love mystrans talk but mostly to eff with SPC.
