I didn't realize we completely lost Underdog to GPC.  Doesn't feel great.

He's a oscar supporter.  He didn't feel comfortable here with all the oscar bashing, I presume.  I wish he'd come back too.

I mean, I think he'd do more good over here...if he could stomach the animosity for oscar.  I should also say that I am one of the one's he probably takes issue with, since I am no fan of oscar.   :frown:

he always said he was a k-state supporter, which in the minds of some of the more fervent #BiD's equates to the same thing as being a weber supporter.  in other words, i think he was alienated here because i think his position aligned with CC's so he took his ball and went home.

I spoke with him a couple times about it.  It wasn't that he was a Weber supporter, it was that every time he posted something he felt was positive, people would crush it with negativity, especially on recruiting news.  Said it made it not fun, and therefore not worth the time.

I can relate.

Some of us simply like to talk K-State basketball in spite of how disappointed we are with the coach and the hire. I get the #burnitdown mantra, but this has become a #burnitdown board and its very difficult to have any tangible basketball discussion before it turns into another "oscar Weber sucks" thread.

I'm not going anywhere, but I haven't posted about K-State basketball nearly as much and probably won't.

this isn't the first time pete has heard this take, it sums up pretty much exactly how i feel, as well.  but, #BiD is gonna #BiD.

back on topic- weber just recruited his fred brown.  will oscar frank him or oscar him?

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

We'll hold the ksu_FWN username for you.

Thanks.

One more thing, I watch games less as a "fan" now than I used to. I coach myself, so I suppose I'm more sympathetic with coaches than most and I watch the game at times with that perspective and I think that affects how I react to things.

Of course, but the guy is going to be here at least 2 more seasons. I'm going to critique what needs to be critiqued and have done so. This is a soft team that struggles to score and that is largely oscar's responsibility.

Again, I understand the issues that most have with oscar, but I think most of all I don't prefer making it into attacks of players or coaches. I just don't do that.
I'm not a fan of attacking the players. But attacking the coach is fair game. He's making millions of dollars on salary, and he's ruining something we love.

"Fire Asbury Now???????"

It never was personal, it was time for him to go and it was realistic to fire him.

That's my issue.  I don't contribute much (if anything) to this board, but the constant screaming for oscar's head, now, is really annoying, IMO.  There's nothing we can do about it, and we're at least 18-24 months away from his seat even getting relatively warm.

John Currie isn't going to fire his first coach in less than three years, and even then, it's unlikely he'll do it in less than four.  We're probably at least three or more years away from anything actionable taking place with oscar Weber.

And these players he's bringing in aren't bad.  They're fringe 150 players.  So, he's probably going to win enough to ride out four years and then Currie will have to make the decision to extend or fire.

So, #BiD folks are just going to have to live with it for a while.

currie ruined it, shultz ruined it.  weber? -it was ruined before he got here and i can't blame the schmuck for taking advantage of two dolts that he's somehow intellectually superior to, to the tune of $2m per.

I understand this, but it is taking me a while to get my emotions about this to come around, not just because of what we have, but because of the realistic timetable.

Do the "oscar sucks" posts get tiring?  I'm sure they do.  Everyone on here has the message by now.  I don't think beating the drum on places like Twitter is necessarily unproductive, however. Pre-heating the hot seat may wind up saving us a third or fourth or fifth year that oscar might otherwise get if people weren't so steamed by the hire from the start.  I'm sure it sucks getting it all the time if you're Currie or the Prez or @kstatesports, but tough patooties, fellas: you made this bed with your godawful hire.

Yeah, JC is the needed change.  fully agree.  Prob is that he is here until he chooses to leave.  Everyone except half of this board and LHC Bill Snyder absolutely love the man.

Unless oscar commits a criminal act, he's getting a fourth year.  There is absolutely no way Currie will fire him until he has to do so.

Look at it form Currie's perspective.  Young, upcomer of an AD hires a guy who he feels was "wrongly" removed at Illinois.  If Weber succeeds, feather in his cap.  If he fails, he will blame it on Martin leaving a mess.

But to blame it on Martin, and not simply a bad hire, he's going to have to give oscar every chance to turn it around.

Given what we did last season and how few we graduated, it should be two in a row.

Anyone who's not a complete dumbass with crap for brains would fire him after two in a row, I'm saying that John Currie will fire him after 3 in a row.

Maybe.  No data with Currie yet to know for sure.  I guess I'm just trying to look at this from the most pure CYA stance that Currie can take and work form there.

If he turned down Clemson to stay here, yes, we're probably stuck with him if he hires as poorly as his limited history suggests.

Unless he takes a conference job somewhere, which is what I personally think we should all be rooting for.  Maybe send Bowlsby a gift basket?

I'm in! Who's collecting the $$, Pan? Make sure the card is signed, "your biggest fan, JC (p.s. BOLD move on sitting tight during realignment!)"

Back on topic, is this Thomas kid a lock or with this late breaking interest is he as good as gone elsewhere? I don't want to check him out unless there's a reasonable expectation he'll be in Manhappiness next year. Oh, UW, we miss you.
I'm in it purely for the entertainment value.

i'm glad uw is gone.  never liked him and always thought he was stupid.  i hope thomas will be talking art's place next year.

this board was not burnitdown until the last couple of games.  it was pretty evenly split before.  if the team puts a few wins together, it'll be split again.

Subtle implications of transfer are exactly the type of stuff we need to keep the bbs'ing fun around here.
