Frankly, I'm shocked that this many people know of New Cambria.
True story told to me by an 86 year old man who taught my dad when he was in junior high: New Cambria was extremely psyched when the railroad came to town in the 1940's. Apparently that was like the raddest thing that could ever happen to a town back then. In the 1950's, during a particularly rough winter, a passenger train heading cross country full of hundreds of people slid off the rails right outside New Cambia, and the town had to take them in (which they did gladly because everyone was neighborly as eff back then) and shelter and feed them for weeks while somebody came and fixed the railroad.
