If I hear another dickface announcer/talking head say what a great coach oscar is during the game I am going to fracking lose it. It has happened every game that I have watched. How is this possible?  How can it be that we all know he is a terrible coach, he got fired for being a terrible coach, and he is a terrible coach, yet people keep saying what a great coach he is?  It is maddening.

Easy answer: 2004-2005. That season evidently still holds weight.

Illinois under Weber, with all Bill Self recruits, started 29-0 and was the most dominant team in the country and it wasn't close. Unfortunately they played their worst game of the season in the national championship game. That team didn't just win, they destroyed and demoralized opponents.

But it took 5 guys who all were at least fringe NBA players. One of which was Deron Williams, arguably the world's best point guard. Deron took over that team and forced them to become great.

Ever since then Weber has been waiting for another Deron Williams to come along and again make his system successful in spite of itself. The unfortunate thing for Weber is, Deron is a rare bird and he has zero chance of recruiting another Deron.

When he has NBA-caliber players, one of which being an All-World point guard, he looks pretty damn good. When he doesn't, his flaws as a person and coach are exposed and things get ugly both on and off the court. This is oscar Weber.

Has KSU ever hired a coach where fans of his prior team were upset to see him leave?

I love the "it takes time to put in a new offense" talking-point that Fran was trying to feed us on TV last night. Remember when Brad Underwood  put in a new offense over a 9 day xmas holiday.

to be fair, they were pretty ugly the first two games they played after changing the offense.

Weak-hearted canary checking in. Have not watched a game yet. May not. May not watch one at all.

What is popular in Egypt?

True.

Continuity offenses mixed with some sets for reasonably talented basketball players who understand structure aren't tough to pick up.

Motion offense concepts that require players to make decisions on their own much more often require much more talented players. oscar's ability to take away almost every offensive strength that this team had has been surprising to me, but he's achieved it. And it will be extremely tough to undo what's already done and I don't see much room for improvement for this team to figure out how to play in this system.
