Team Identification: #burnitdown vs. #hopeforthebest
« on: December 10, 2012, 07:41:05 PM »
This isn't about Frankites vs. Weberites....there really are no Weberites, and Frank is gone so supporting him now is pretty meaningless.  The real division is between:

#burnitdown: those who think we are best served by a horrid season that hastens the departure or Weber and hopefully Currie as well (preferable first) - a couple of years of tragedy are better than 6 or 7 years of sub-mediocrity.

#hopeforthebest: those who realize Weber's chances for success in the long term are slim, but hope that he can keep us above .500 in conference for a couple of years and make an NCAA or two in the next 3 (keep in mind this will be enough to get him a nice contract extension and we'll have his product on the court until nearly 2020)

I'm neither.  The first scenario you laid out is pretty much impossible, he's getting a minimum of 3 years barring a complete unmitigated disaster.  The second one blows, I don't want to hope to be above .500 and hope for a couple of tournament appearances, no thanks.

I want the dude to win and I want the national image of the program restored to what it was.  If he can't do that he needs to GTFO.

There are actually a large number of people that were happy that Currie/oscar reclaimed K-State Athletics from the Frank machine.

There may be none on here.

Not really, I just require more information than most to move one way or the other, sometimes to a fault.

I haven't regularly read GPC longer than that and I don't care to. When I post here I'm not arguing against GPC logic. GPC has always had the worst basketball discussion of any K-State message board.

Anybody who wants us to lose this year is a loser. I'm pulling for a deep tournament run. Anything short of the sweet 16 is completely unacceptable.

I would be all for burning it down if it meant we could trade Bruces.

Why can't we just hope oscar wins, but real life PI him every chance we get regardless of what happens so he will be on the first life boat out of town? I mean it worked for Tech with Tuberville.

No, Tubs left Tech because he didn't think it would ever work out.  He told Dodd that he thought he had a better chance of making a big time bowl at Cinci than at Tech.  That is the coach rejecting the loser school, not the school rejecting the loser coach.  Completely different things here.

oscar seems like the type of guy that wouldn't realize you were talking crap to him even if you did it right in his face
