I like when we showed blitz with 20 seconds left on the play clock. Florence see's it, even points to the blitzer(s), checks out of the play, we still blitz and get torched on the play.
My friend and I noticed this as well. I remember watching the Bama v Aggie game and the announcers saying that Bama is one of the few teams in the country that will do a "check with me" with the defense when the offense audibles. We needed to do that last night. We would show blitz with more than 25 seconds on the clock, Baylor would audible, and we would still bring the same people that we showed coming. How easy is that to run plays against? Blitzes are ineffective if you know where it's coming from and have dynamic wideouts that can beat 1 on 1 coverage.
I think our offense was hurt by no Lockett and Sexton and also by our defense just not getting any stops. Also, Baylor had all 11 players within 8 yds of the line of scrimmage on quite a few plays, especially on early downs. You have to take advantage of the 1 on 1 matchups on the outside. This was the first game all year where the opposing defense loaded the box and we weren't able to beat their corners on the outside with any consistency. Not having Lockett out there to stretch the defense hurt us really bad. No depth at WR. Harper is quick, but he doesn't have blazing speed. Same with TripleEffinT.
I fully expect us to come out and demolish Bevo if Lockett is 100%. Especially with 2 weeks for our coaches to pull their heads out of their asses and to break in Barnett at safety. I still haven't heard of a good reason why Barnett started in front of Ferguson, either.
