It's awesome because of not giving a eff. But it's also genius because of the way Trump himself invents feuds for the sake of publicity. So, it sort of mocks him.

Sounds to me like they hated him before and won't change that position based on publicity. It was awesome because Trump flipped out afterwards.

So at this point, the only explanation his defenders are left with is: "Hey, people still get defrauded by Nigerian princes -- if that can happen, why not this?"

Except there's a financial incentive for the "prince". Who's the only person who benefits from the fake girlfriend's death? The lying liar.

The best part about this is what he told Schap. Nothing funnier than a 21 year old man saying he lied to his father about meeting his girlfriend in person when she didn't show because he was worried his father, from 4,300 miles away, would shut down his online relationship because he would find it suspicious.

"I'm 21 and scared my dad would make be breakup with my online girlfriend from 4,000 miles away".

this is in the media's face almost as much as Te'o.

People keep saying this, but I'm not sure it's true. The media's job is to report. When you have an anonymous source, sure you need to do a lot of fact checking to make sure that the facts are accurate. However, when you have a named source, like Manti Teo, all you are really doing is putting his story out there for everyone to see. Regardless of the facts, his lie is his story, and you shouldn't have to go out and verify that this girl really existed. The truth would, and did, come out and expose Te'o for the liar that his is. If there is any egg on the media's face, it is from them taking the liar's side in all of this and not crucifying him for being a lying bad person.

I heard an interview with the SI reporter that did the "Full Manti" cover story. He said that he did do a fact check and couldn't find a record of the wreck, of her attending Stanford, of her death, etc but went ahead with the story blaming deadlines.

He said he actually called the SID guy, or someone, at Stanford to get some info on her for the story and the guy said that he couldn't find her student info in the system and that he was surprised that a Stanford student was dating a high profile Notre Dame player without him having heard about it and how that usually doesn't happen since their campus isn't overly huge.

Just seems like a lot of flags to completely ignore.
