I was prepared for this.   Back on page 14 or so I posted a link about another player that Dooley denied release to.

So enlighten me, I'm not up on NCAA rules, if he does not get the release he will just have to sit out a year correct? Is there something I'm missing here?

Also if he has to sit out a year does that also mean he can't practice or be on the field?

All it means is that he has to pay his own way to KSU this year.  Not really a big deal.  He'll play next season.

So, assume he doesn't pay his own way next year and give us a chance to redshirt him, he'd only have 2 seasons of eligibility left starting in 2011?

He'll have 3 years to play for us, unless he decides to play at a juco this year, which I seriously doubt he would do.

This is what the rule should be:

Coaching change and a player asks for his release.

A. Coach releases scholly and lets him go, player sits out year on scholarship
B. Coach denies request, player still transfers and can play right away

Dooley calling college football an "organization" and players "professionals" is a complete joke.

Why only two? I would assume he has 3 season left.  :dunno: He never redshirted.

Pretty sure he has to sit out this year whether he gets released or not. Him getting the release means he could work out with the team on scholarship. Him not getting the release means he could work out with the team, but would have to pay his own way.

FYI: Dooley's coaching mentor is Nick Saban.

Its strange that he would care about Brown transfering to K-State.  I could see if it was another SEC team or USC, but besides BB not talking to him in person, this is silly.

And again, Dooley put up Wooly-ish numbers while coaching Louisiana Tech.

Exactly.....nobody should be suprised by this.  The way it has been handled is odd.  Dooley going out of his way to make Bryce look as bad as possible is a little ridiculous.

Warm up the tuition gift card....seriously.  :kstatriot:

I think Bryce is just playing it safe.  If he were to have quit UT in a "professional" manner, he would have threatened his amateur status with the NCAA.  By doing it "unprofessionally" (per UT cry-baby losers) he preserves his ability to play for Cats.

I've been listening to some talk radio, and some of the commentators (mostly uk homers) have been asking hypos about whether or not K-State and LHC Bill Snyder want a kid with these "character issues".  Enormous  !  They're so f*cking scared.

Remember when Josh Freeman de-committed from Nubb via text?

From David Fox, a rivals writer: By signing a letter of intent, the student-athlete agrees to attend the college or university for one year. The institution also agrees to provide financial aid for one year. Other institutions are prohibited to continue recruiting a student-athlete once he signs a letter of intent. A signed letter is binding to the university or college, not a coach or team. It is binding for one academic year. It does not guarantee a spot on the team or playing time. Student-athletes sign a National Letter of Intent only for the first year. NCAA rules require institutions to notify athletes whether their athletics aid has been renewed.
