where did the "right" lose its way?
« on: September 20, 2012, 07:34:08 AM »
Obama served this election up on a platter for the right and will still probably get re-elected. How is Mitt Romney the best candidate the right can field? I mean, crazy 2008 John McAin would have walked away with this thing. Yet, here we are. Mitt. Jesus rough ridin' christ.

I really liked Huntsman, but he did crazy stuff like say he believed in evolution and global warming so his run didn't last as long as actual crazy people Santorum and Bachmann's runs. When was the last time one party didn't send out a total loser to lose the election? '92?

The problem with the right is that a GOP candidate must pander to the extremists to rally the base and they alienate themselves from the people in the middle for the general elections.

I think McCain would have won in '08 if not for Palin.

Palin did nothing to help, but I think he would have lost either way. Obama was a very strong candidate in 2008.

Yep.  The Tea Party really was a death knell for moderate Republicans.  Sad, that by pushing their extreme agenda they made some momentary gains, but have cost themselves far more in the long run.

I'm actually a fan of what the Tea Party wants, low taxes, small government. I just dont like that its represented by mouthbreathing WT Sooner fans.

Why did the republican party need a bunch of crazies to remind the country that they support low tax and small govt?

I have a big problem with anyone says they are for "small government" but won't touch military spending or legalize gay marriage.

I don't think it was necessarily just obama. I think once the democrats took control of the house and the senate,  some republicans felt threatened and went to the extreme end of the spectrum on most issues. Then a partisan war ensued.

Culture change. Give it time. We are working our way up the ranks.
"How will I recruit to Manhattan? Well, distance. And the proud state of basketball. It start there, and then daily flights to Dallas, because I'm really good at going out. Like top five good. Ask my wife. She wants me to be happy."

Looks like there are no problems between michigancat emawblast and ben ji.

If ben ji was in charge he probably wouldnt cut military spending but he would definitely freeze it for 8 years and close some random bases we have left over from WWII

Yeah.  The thing is, you can't really support low tax, small gov't, America: world police, and be a sane person.  You can't spend 5x what the next highest country does on military, have low taxes, and not hemorrhage money.  Ron Paul is right on our military policy.

Well, start taking care of all the nonsense listed above, along with some of the inflicting Christianity on everyone and I may take the right seriously.

This is another thing. If the "Right" could drop the Christianity and social issues crap they would win a lot more elections. They should take more of a libertarian view on things, not forcing their morals on others.

This is the "fiscally conservative" end of the ticket. What a joke.

He's a Neo-Liberal just like Bush was.

Probably the smartest guy out there was Newt, the thing is, Newt can't get past his past, and he doesn't know when to shut up . . . but he's pretty much a Neo-Liberal/RINO/Fake Conservative/Child of the Beltway as well.
