. . . the fact the head coach and the DC know Snyder inside and out and back again, and likely understand that K-State will come out tight as a snare drum in winter, and the trifecta of Snyder/Dimel/Miller will have outschemed themselves (as usual) particuarly in the first half and so we'll likely look like a train wreck (see 1st half Cotton Bowl).

Not to mention our bend but don't break defense will allow superior athletes to turn up field and will clownsuit our tacklers.

Yep. The first sentence is why we've lost all but 1 to OU in the Stoops era. The 2nd sentence is why 3 of the last 4 have been blowouts. Our secondary's efforts so far this year don't make me especially hopeful that we can avoid #2. We can hope that Landry is a bit off-sync like he seemed to be against UTEP. Problem is, when all he has to do is throw a little 7-15 yard crossing route that the WR catches then blows by our defensive backs for 6, it's a lot easier to get back into sync.

Here's how we might win Saturday:  lose the toss, receive the ball, good return, 6-minute drive for a TD. OU's not quite in sync on first drive, punts. We drive for a 2nd TD, another 6-minute drive. From there on out, we have no turnovers, force two on OU, have ~37 minute TOP, and try to make them run more than 4-5 plays on their scoring drives.

Second favorite

Keys:

Establish some other type of running game other than Klein. Doesn't matter whether or not it is with Hubert or baby Lockett or TT on a reverse. Gotta be able to be multidimensional on the ground.

Pass. I think we can pass really well. Not well enough to throw the ball 30+ times a game. But if we are throwing 20-25 times a game, I like that a lot.

Turnovers. Gotta be +. No way around it.

Penalties. Little things can kill a chance for an upset.

Pressure. I get the fact that we are all about bending and not breaking, but if we play soft zone all day then they are going to eff on us. I really like the idea of getting pressure on Landry early on in the game. Sure he can beat us deep on some plays where we have man on man coverage. But when you are on the road against a team with a considerable advantage in talent, you have to roll the dice.

Wrinkles. Don't have to reinvent the wheel. But if Sams and Baby Lockett aren't getting involved in the offense in some capacity other than traditional ways, then I don't like that.

Just my two cents.

have you ever considered maybe being a fan of another school?  I can't imagine how much your life must suck.

GoodForAtuck

Aside from the fact that he didn't follow Nic's rule, what did he type that was wrong?  Have you watched KSU/OU games the last 13 seasons?  Christ man, making obvious observations doesn't mean the man isn't EMAW.  Take that crap to Wabash Station.

And eff you for making me advocate for Dax.

I'm not saying he was wrong or right.  I just think it might be healthier for him if he found an easier to school to cheer for.

To dax, slmz and all the other negative nancy's:

Yes, we get it.  We are an underdog.  Did you not read the freaking thread title?  WE ARE ALL AWARE!  I don't really know who you think you're talking to with your concern trolls about the team being ready and your pre-emptive melt downs.  If you have lived Big 8, Big 12, Big 12-2 football, you know this matchup.  As _FAN astutely pointed out, this matchup has not been as lopsided as the score suggests!  EVEN IN NORMAN!

Now I also want to bring something else to your attention.  In the Stoops era here are the QB's we've brought to Norman:

2001: Sophomore Ell Roberson
2005: Senior Allen Webb
2009: Senior Grant Gregory
2012: Senior Collin Klein

Which of these is not like the other ones?  A sophomore, two transfer QBs or a 2nd year starter with immense game experience.  Of course the defense has to play well, but we should put up points.  We should control the tempo.

Look at '09!
We won TOP, had 50% 3rd down conversion (despite giving up 76%!!), converted 66% 4th Down! and 80% in the RZ.  Why did we lose?  The first four possessions of the game OU went 8 plays for 14-0, while Kstate went 6 plays, two punts.  AND WE STILL WERE KICKING OFF WITH 11 MINUTES TO GO DOWN 5!  We even hold them to a FG and it is a 1 possession game!  I am not claiming any moral victories here, but that 2009 squad was awful.

People have seemingly lost all sense of perspective.  This game will be competitive.  There will be an opportunity for either team to win it.  Whether KSU seizes that opportunity or not I cannot say, but I watched the oSu game last year and that is about how I expect this game to go.  Down to the last posession.

Enjoy it CAT fans.  Prepare yourself to enjoy it.  This moment has a clear expiration date.

Didn't OU convert some crazy ass like 3rd & 36 late in that game to salt it away, or score again to make it a 2 score game right before or after Banks housed one? God that game pissed me off.

I think it was a 1st & 36 or something. I think they ended up converting a 3rd & 24 though with a receiver breaking like 2 tackles and tip-toeing the sideline.

Some interesting items:

WVU -28 v. Maryland  (are the Terps horrible?) :horrorsurprise:

Baylor -7 to Monroe (I know they look like a middling sec team but really?)

KU +10 to NIU (who almost lost to Army)

Cal+17 to USC (if the media wills it, usc is a nc contender)  :jerk:

Yeah Maryland are complete trash.  Randy Edsall will get fired at some point this season and its only his second at UM.  They beat William & Mary at home 7-6.  They just lost a home game to UCONN, the school Edsall ditched for Maryland.  UM is without a doubt worse than Marshall & we know how the WVU game turned out for them.  -28 is easy money, I'm sure that line will increase before kick off.

:flush: good god wvu is grossly overrated

Right now, I really think we have a good chance to beat WVU.

That's a nice thought to have.
