What is the updated average BCS ranking (or just computer ranking) of KSUs and Oregons remaining opponents?

Oregon - 31.0
KSU - 34.3

did you factor in PAC 12 'ship game?

Nope - if you add in USC its 28.7, with UCLA it's 28.2.

I don't think Alabama should be so universally recognized as #1.

Would smash them.

say texas is able to win their next two and climb up the rankings. when we beat them would that be enough to hold off oregon?

The thing is, by doing so they give two more losses to teams we have beaten. Should only factor into human polls.

Well if Brad is correct and Oregon is going to have a ridiculous time trying to catch us in the computers, then all we need is a few tard voters fall in love with Texas for 3 more weeks to hold them off

The big 12 had a very good SOS going into conference play...so I don't think so

Ya, it's a zero sum game for the Big 12 once conference play starts, for computer purposes on win/loss of opponents.

That's why it's the efficiency stuff that's important to us going forward, right?

which is important.  I'm not scared of the computers.  But I'm pleased to hear pollack and herbie starting to soften on oregan/bama being a lock for the title game.  gives me hope they might not think they can swing it.

Couldn't there be a chance a bunch of voters want old man Snyder to get a shot at the crystal football?  It could happen right?  RIGHT???  MODS???????

Anyone else think the "one is the loneliest number" is catchy?  I find myself singing it all week in anticipation of Sunday night.

Yes. Exceptional re-make.

I don't know if this is true.  Someone posted a link earlier that the computers are only allowed to look at wins/losses and home/away.  According to the link, they can't look at anything else in the box score and they are all just 6 different ways of using those 4 inputs (w/l/h/a).

To me, the most important aspects going forward are Oregon's opponents losing, and impressing the human polls on Dec. 1st. If we can manage to convince 1/3rd of the Harris/Coaches that we are the 2nd best team in the nation, it would go a long way.

Not that you're right about it being a BCS factor, but I like you're reasoning.

I have an excel spreadsheet.  However I used the wrong numbers.  The real numbers are:
KSU - 33.9
Oregon w/USC - 29.7
Oregon w/UCLA - 28.5

Insider math dude Edwards
Quote
Kansas State: The Wildcats need to win out, obviously, and a loss by either Alabama or Oregon would very likely land them in the title game. But if the Tide and Ducks win out, KSU needs Notre Dame to be undefeated as well, for the reasons I just described in the Oregon section. If the Wildcats hold no worse than second-place rankings in the computers, and the Ducks aren't better than fourth in at least half of them, the race for No. 2 in the BCS standings will be very, very close.

One last thing: The worse Oregon's opponent in the Pac-12 title game, the better it is for Kansas State. The Ducks won't get much of a boost for beating UCLA, as an example.

That's a cute/funny ms paint, but do people really think ND is relevant in the title hunt without two teams losing?

I already had the worst time trying to convince everyone this weekend that ND winning is not only ok, but good.

not that it's really relevant, but I'm pretty sure that if you asked every college football fan in the country what game they would most like to watch in the mnc if their team couldn't/can't get in, 99% would say 'bama v. oregon.  those two completely different styles of football going head to head would be fascinating to watch...especially in light of saban crying about hurry-up offenses.

if anything scares me, it's that.  that being said, coaches' votes are the only ones that matter and I don't think they're going to drastically change their votes if both stay undefeated.
