That's not exactly true if you're talking about Tressel ball.  Their NC season they squeaked by most all of their games, but after that they started routinely blowing out the rest of the conference and yet getting crushed in bowl games.  A strange equilibrium.  Win all of them by a hair, or win most of them by a crap ton and lose the most important one by a crap ton.
