To answer some questions...

1) I'm Greek ethnically. As in "Mount Olympus", not "mount a sorority chick after you GHB her drink".

2) I'm not the biggest donor in school history, and I probably exhausted my connections just to get the 3 tickets we put in for yesterday. You're on your own for tickets. I may be the only message board poster/blog proprietor in D-1 athletics history who can say that their school's SID called their boss and (arguably) tried to get them fired, AND had their AD contact the university attorney to investigate the possibility of a lawsuit. We're all friends again, I think... But you can probably do a lot better than having me try to pull strings to get you tickets.

3) I never got to meet Coach Gennaro. After I got caught up in that bar fight defending Scott Bakula, the crusty old dean had me expelled. It wasn't until he got his comeuppance that I was able to re-enroll, and by then, Coach Gennaro had to retire due to heart problems.

I'm flattered by the warm welcome you guys are giving me. It's nice to meet fans of a school that can appreciate playing the premiere basketball program in the state of Texas.

If only Sinbad hadn't gotten caught juicing that next season would have been huge.

Did you guys cheer for us when we dismembered UT?  Did you cheer for us when we smacked Baylor twice and ran ATM out of the gym?

Please. This is the sort of stuff you people crow about? Texas? A&M? BAYLOR?!?

Texas is a joke. Charles Whitman is still the best shooter in their school's history. And who runs point for them? Anyone there know how to deal an assist? Their best passer left when Ricky Williams went to the Saints, and he was only ever any good when passing it 'pon the left hand side.

As for A&M... Those people can't even win in a fight with LUMBER. Maybe once they figure out how to defend against gravity, they can scheme out a zone or a man system that works on the court. You guys want to talk about freakish cults? Forget BYU; look at College Station.

Don't even get me started on Baylor. They still consider it a successful year whenever they make it through a whole season without anyone murdering a teammate. Brittany Griner has bigger nuts than anyone on the men's team. They're just lucky nobody in administration knows they're going dancing, or the whole team would be expelled for violating the honor code.

Texas Tech is just sad. Have they ever won anything in a Big 12 men's sport? Ever? As we found out when we wrote up a Lubbock travelogue, their school is so pathetic that their own mascot killed itself during a football game. I wouldn't be surprised if the only reason they haven't been kicked out of the conference was so that you guys could have a school to consistently look down on.

Who's left? Houston? They're barely above .500 and the only reason their coach isn't unemployed today is because he got a horseshoe stuck up his ass during arguably the most critical 4 game stretch of his 85 year career. Otherwise, the Cougars are on the outside looking in at the CBI and the CIT, and Penders is off to play bingo at the old folks home.

UTEP? They couldn't even beat Houston.

I think it's clear that you guys are finally going to have to deal with the best basketball program in the state. If there's one school that's synonymous with basketball domination in the Lone Star state, it's North Texas. Tough break for you all that we got screwed on seeding this year.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure KSU alumn Kirstie Alley could beat up Meat Loaf.  Stew on that.

 :runaway:

Seriously? I think that the single best thing for the long term success and visibility of both our schools (athletically speaking) would be for you guys to make the jump to full 1-A and for us to play each other every year in all the major sports.

Whether we're ever conference mates again or not, we ought to play each other in OOC games. If I remember correctly, each of us is the most frequently played football opponent for the other, and that's still true after more than a decade without a game. I don't understand our fans that whine about how TCU and SMU won't schedule us locally, then refuse to play you guys because the game is "beneath us/nothing to gain".

Short term, it doesn't do much for us to play a 1-AA or fledgling 1-A team in football, or an OOC against a basketball team that hurts our RPI right now. But long term, renewing the old rivalry and engaging fans is key. Texas State and North Texas are a natural, untapped matchup with historical roots. I hope you guys are an annual fixture on our schedules, one way or another.

If you were looking for me to take cheap shots at you like I did with the other Texas schools... Then you guys are more pathetic than Texas Woman's University. Sad but true.

Sorry to bore you. I know you fast-paced lifestyle folks from Kansas are pretty fickle when it comes to getting bored easily. I'll try to keep the comedy snappy, and more K-State relevant. I apologize.

I also apologize for a mistake I made in another thread when I mistakenly referred to Larry Bird as a former K-Stater. I've since been corrected; it seems he went to Indiana State. It's a mistake anyone could make.

It gets pretty dark in the shadow of an in-state powerhouse that other people actually respect as a basketball school, and I don't see so well in low light. Shame on me for getting one flat, depressing midwestern state mixed up with another flat, depressing midwestern state. I'm learning, though. Someone yesterday already set me straight on Wheat vs. Corn.

Just be glad that you guys are done with your cupcake Big 12 schedule. Now that you're playing a basketball school with national credibility, I bet you guys get some serious media coverage.

No more of this ESPN regional access stuff... You guys are stepping up to the big leagues against North Texas. I bet this game makes national television. You're all welcome for the exposure.

Just my humble opinion, but i think you need more K-state bashing, and less, "North Texas is the best."

But you have still been great!! Keep it up. I noticed on mean green that your fans were going on to other message boards and posting that you will lost by 20?? What's that about? They should all be like you.

To tell you the truth, I don't think Kristie even spent a year at KSU.  Our truly famous alumnus is Gordon Jump, the boss on WKRP in Cincinnatti.

How are you dudes neglecting Eric Stonestreet, ultra famous elite KSU alum now starring as Cameron, a super hilarious portly, gay gentleman on Modern Family? The guy even worked at the Octagon of Doom (and also as a portly clown named Fizbo).  He was also a portly coroner on CSI and Dharma and Greg’s portly neighbor.

That has to trump Meatloaf because I sure as hell don’t see Meatloaf tweeting about hanging with Sofia Verga in Hawaii and requesting updates from his team’s hoops games.  Suck it, UNT.
