My dad had me delete some contacts from his phone(flip) the other day. He's never texted ever. But I went into his text messages to find 18 drafts from the past 2 years. All blank, apparently stumbled in there a lot and barely made it out.

My dad just got on Facebook a couple weeks ago. Keeps posting pictures from a few years ago without explanation and people think they are current - like a meal he cooked or his garden.

What if they were all gonna be texts to WillieWatanabe about how much he loves you and how great of a son you are, but he was never able to make the texts work and he could never quite gather the courage to tell you face-to-face because he gets too choked up and it's too hard for him to break through his grizzled exterior? A single tear.

When he goes in for the half hug you need to latch on and go all full hug.
It will be awkward for him the first time, but he will probably shed a tear after you leave.
