We have a green light. No the track will not go around the soccer field. Should be a nice facility. The soccer/track facility is child's play compared to what K-State is doing. The rec center building is fairly simple but should be pretty nice, and its for the city nor KU. KU is getting a deal here, free land and someone else is paying to hook utilities.
Some people think it's going to be an Olympic Village and asked the new commissioner how it compares to Stanford:

Bowlsby said the fact Stanford competes in 36 sports makes comparisons tough, but he did touch on the expected additions to KU’s Olympics sports facilities. KU has long discussed the idea of an Olympic Village that would include facilities for track and field and women’s soccer, and Bowlsby’s comments suggested that those plans are still moving along.
“There are an awful lot of the pieces of the puzzle in place,” Bowlsby said, “and it sounds like plans are in place for improvements in a lot of other areas that’ll support the Olympic sports.”
