Working from home
« on: May 31, 2012, 03:20:53 PM »
I imagine its pretty sweet being able to work in shorts/t-shirt and surf the web without looking over your shoulder.  However, does it make it hard to get your work done? Too distracting?

Discuss.

I've had the opportunity to do it some in my current job.  It's pretty awesome.  I eventually to be a full-time virtual employee.

I guess it would be harder to get your work done if you were some weirdo kid with ADD who gets distracted easily.

have done this recently. my theory is that you're actually more productive when you work at home because at least for me, i know what i have to get done for the day. so if i know this while at home i'm more likely to try to get that stuff done quickly so i can "relax" for the rest of the day. at work, you know you're there til 5 no matter what so you're more likely to do tasks slowly and space them out until 5.

I'm probably more productive at home just due to the fact that it's so much more relaxing and comfortable than being stuck in a cubicle.

this is my perspective as well.  which means it is the correct perspective.  congrats to emawblast for not being a complete dumbass and having a take that an emaw legend like myself, also has.

I work from home at least once a week, and get more done.  I get more done because at the office I have people who come by my desk and ask me questions when they could spend about 5 mins of their own time to figure it out themselves.  So yea I get a lot more done at home.

It's great because I can wear shorts and t-shirt, and spend time with my pups.

I have been offsite about 90% of the time for the past few months. It's amazing.

I don't work very hard when I work from home.

At the office I'm very motivated and hard working... idk I guess it's just something about being at home makes me think I shouldn't have to work... ya know?

I probably work from home more than I do my office.  it's fantastic.  then again, when I'm in the office usually my best friend is there and we have a couch and a mini fridge with beer and a flat screen. so you can imagine that I get more done at home.

I enjoy socializing with my coworkers. I would be bored out of my mind at home. Go cats.

I work with a good amount of kick ass bros who are always ready to scream back some suds or take the Chriscraft out for a jaunt.  Wouldn't have that at home.

Varies by person.  I've done both.  Getting work done isn't a big problem, but staying at home all day is.  Having somewhere to work gets the ball rolling on my day, making me more likely to do other crap than work too.

But I mean, if you are really happy surfing the web, playing video games, relaxing, then it would be awesome and by all means go for it.
