When in KC I always go straight for the BBQ joints. Chilis has fantastic ribs. And the riblets at Applebee's... forget about it.

I've always enjoyed the food at Rieger.  Caveat - only eaten there 3 times.

Bar downstairs - Manifesto - is awesome.  Place is probably better known for their bartenders than their chefs.

colby garrelts finally won his james beard award last night.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

good for him and good luck at his new joint Rye out south in Mission Farms.  That space has seemed to turnover pretty fast even with the great patio it has.  I love that they Little Apple red on tap even if it doesn't do it for the snobbiest of beer snobs.

Rieger is a must eat. MHKS chef and all.

Best part about the rieger is its history and the cave bar. The food is meh at best. Feel bad to say that given he used to work at coco bolos. That and he's a neighbor of mine.

Who is the chef that used to work at bolos?

I worked at bolo's for a couple years in school and wonder if i know him or not.

Has anyone been to Anton's Tap Room off of Main? Also interest in the butcher shop in it too.  It smells fantastic when I run by there.

Manifesto is now for tourists and noobs from JOCO on date night.  It's played like the Harlem shake

he's trying to do too much.  and don't get me started on the butcher.  just go to local pig (a+), broadway butcher (b), or paradise meats (a+).

Oh man the wait to get in there Friday night when the wife and I get a sitter after our hectic week is crazy!  And how it's all kind of like an under ground speakeasy with all of the bartenders wearing vests and neck beards, it makes the muddled mint and gin with a catchy name sooooo worth it.

Hi fellow downtown runner/resident/friend.

Love it for the beer selection....food I've had is a mixed bag.  Nothing bad so far, but a lot of meh.  Haven't tried anything from the butcher to take home....my condo isn't conducive to grilling at home.  The steak I did have there was pretty good.

Yeah KDC is not at all the way you described. It's pretty meh actually. And it's not under ground.

i enjoyed Anton's the one time i went. i had the fish tacos, they were fine. along with several beers. great tap selection obviously. go downstairs and you can see all where they grow their herbs and green stuff and all that, along with a fish farm that they use for some (if not all) of their fish entrees (including my tacos).
