It was good. The youngest was being a crap but even he couldn’t hate on pizza. We did a tahini/hummus platter that was interesting and was pretty approachable. The kebabs were a highlight as well. I’ll definitely be back to try more. It was easy to try and share a lot of the menu which I appreciated.

Same thing is about to happen/is happening with bourbon. Tequila is the new sexy booze of choice.

yep, I heard a bout DS and was bummed. I didn't go that often, but I always enjoyed the quaintness of it. 39th St Brew opened up fairly recently and I've been a couple of times. It's pretty great, but I don't see how they will survive either. I'm hoping they do though. I agree on the tequila take below, however, to counter that, Mrs SF and I are big bar people. We always try and sit at the bar or the bar area. However, for some reason, we both prefer the brewery type atmosphere. If we are going to just have a couple of drinks somewhere, we still prefer to hit a brewery than a bar/restaurant. No idea why.

Yeah, I found out last weekend too. GF and I were thinking of places and I suggested that and she was like "oh they closed" :(

Completely agree. A good brewery with a food truck or decent food nearby is the best. That's why I hope 39th st makes it. A few beers and then a couple slices of spicy pep from Tascio on the way home is my jam.

omg.  i spicy pep'd this weekend.  you should try friction brewery in shawnee, by drastic measures.  hank's garage just opened there, tried going friday, impossible to get into right now.  friction has great vibes and good beers.

The ones that act as a playground (kc bier co) are annoying. I enjoyed the rise of the craft brewery but it's time had come. Don't think I've ever witnessed the creation, rise, and fall of an industry until now.

In its prime, which kc brewery had the best atmosphere? I used to really like the little back porch or whatever at torn label.

Agreed. I also liked Boulevard's beer hall the times I visited.

I still enjoy the smaller ones quite a bit. Alma Mader, Sandhills, KC Bier (inside). I also like Casual Animal every once in a while.

It just was overblown, many will die, but manty will survive. Hard to support tens thousands of breweries.

That being said, love River Bluff, Strange Days, and Brew Lab. Martin City is good too.

Don't get there often but River Bluff is great. However, it is another one that when I go, I immediately wonder how they stay in business. That place is huge. Strange Days is another good small one I enjoy, but don't get too that often. VG vibe there.

Oh casual animal does have a great atmosphere, even if it's not really my favorite. Tip of the cap though

That's somewhat fair. I go think often enough, I think they struggle being more north of the market then next to it, but I do think they get enough people who walk by/go in during lunch. I think being the hang out place for the Current helps them a lot. When the weather is good too it helps as well. But agree they probably need more traffic then they seem to get.
