I had Chef J the other day and went with the brisket, mostly because I was too late in the day.  It was outstanding.

I'm planning on Baba's Pantry tomorrow for lunch but I've planned on it many times in the past and never actually made it so we'll see.

Sad to hear clams experience, can we get a chicat review?

I enjoyed it.  The food was a good version of a pretty limited menu.  My complaint would be that there wasn't anything too exotic on the menu.

The highlight is Baba coming out of the kitchen to ask about local's dr appointments and ensure them that their favorite soup will be on the menu next week.

I have had Jerusalem Cafe (catering), Yafa and am about to try Arabic Kitchen KC (catering) and will hopefully try Baba next week as well. Yafa is current number 1 for me.

Went to Bacaro Primo for the anniversary. It was excellent. Maybe the best charcuterie board i've ever had -- though I don't usually like charcuterie.

I had the lobster spaghetti.

I'm sure it's been discussed in multiple places and possibly multiple times in this thread, but let's discuss KC BBQ. Everyone can talk about which place is the best, and that's boring. I want to know who has the best:

1. Ribs
2. Brisket
3. Pulled Pork
4. Sauce
5. Sides

I'm not well experienced with KC BBQ, I've eaten at the famous places once or twice. In my experience, Arthur Bryant's has the best brisket and sauce (I realize it's a love or hate flavor) and Joe's KC has the best ribs. And Jack Stack and Q39 are pretty damn good at everything, but not great at anything.

So where should Mrs. Stevesie and I go on our KC BBQ tour?

We had a department wide list for this, aged by 5 years

1. Ribs: Joes
2. Brisket: LCs
3. Pulled Pork: Meat Mitch
4. Sauce: total audible Gates
5. Sides: Jack Stack, those baked beans alone, but also cheesy corn

It's been a couple of years I have never had a bad meal at LC's. Bryant's is some of the worst I've had in KC barely above Zarda. Gates is my good in a pinch spot and has my favorite sauce by fair. I know it's not what Stevesie asked for but I don't care. My rankings:

Slaps
Joe's
Q39
LCs
Jack Stack
Danny Edwards
Woodyard
Gates
Bryants
Rosedale
Zardas

I must admit I've been in somewhat of a rut BBQ wise as I don't go a lot so I go to what I know I like when I do go.

1. Ribs - Joes / Slaps
2. Brisket - No leader for me in brisket, I tend to find they all do it well
3. Pulled Pork - Wolfepack (just now ate so maybe recency bias)
4. Sauce - Gates
5. Sides - Jack Stack / Wyandot for fries specifically / Zarda for beans specifically. Last place Joes by a long shot.
6. Turkey (needs more love in KC BBQ talks) - Wolfepack
7. Burnt Ends (why is this not on your list) - Bryants / Slaps

What if I told you that many of you BBQ lovers will discover you can't eat smoked meats after a few years? It sucks, man. I love the aroma andflavor but can no longer eat it. Many of my aged friends are in the same boat. It's all about the gas grille and a good rub these days.
