Brown & Loe
Building / Design / Atmosphere - Very cool. Redone old bank very well redone. High ceilings, good noise level. Bathrooms in the basement bonus points. super long bar looked like a great place to be. (10/10)
Hours - 7am - 10pm (8pm on Sunday). Looks like they serve coffee in the AM, not sure what else...no mention of brunch yet. Hoping they catch on and stay open later to take advantage of the long bar. (8/10)
Drink selection - pretty good tap selection (7'ish Blvds, 10 others) and solid wines by the glass....didn't get a full drink menu to see the full selection. Cheap prices overall (7/10)
Food - Pierogi appetizer...fried....not anybody's fave. I had the cheeseburger with fried egg and fries, figured second day open this was something they would be able to do well right away if they knew what they were doing. Asked for how I wanted it cooked which is a good sign. Burger was excellent...fries were kind of like Antons and flimsy like Antons...not a fan. Others had the trout with a creamed corn...it was reported to be v. good. Spinach dumplings came out less than ideal temperature and overall got a solid "meh". I was thinking they would be more like asian dumplings but I guess they were some sort of white person dumpling ball thing....looking around at other plates the short ribs and steak looked good. Food prices seemed cheap. (7/10)
Overall - excited for this place and see it grow, add brunch and specials using the market out their front door.
