I was being dramatic, real catfish tastes more like dirty river than regular fish

TBH "catfish benedict on cornbread" is like a dish a hipster foodie AI would spit out, and Wacky's "hippo filet" bit was pretty well executed.  gotta be fair.

the CB on C does sound really tasty though.  and this is coming from a guy who cooked hy-vee brand macaroni this morning to eat for lunch, not some random clown.
Agreed the hippo filet was a good post
 I was really proud of that post. I thought we were all gonna lol so hard. :D

i finally went to the Majestic. can't really beat the venue and live jazz, also very generously poured manhattans. food (had one of the dry aged steaks) was good.

Did Sean judge your drink order?  I mean he absolutely did.

Sean is their main bartender guy. Has been bartender of the year several times in KC. Fun guy. You would of had to sit at the upstairs bar to run into him.

He makes the best Manhattan in town. He'd probably smirk at you for ordering  a gin and tonic, like I usually did.

He's very judgey as to what and how people order any cocktail.  He's very passionate about making cocktails the RIGHT way (his way).

whew.  It's a great place and he's a great bartender, just hilarious to sit at the bar and listen to him judge orders.

Last time I went I just wanted a standard up vodka martini and the waitress told him I didn't want vermouth for some reason and I overheard him telling her nobody orders it that way and made it properly.

He's a fun guy. He came to our wedding reception. There was a group of us who frequented there all the time and we made friends with him. He's a funny guy.

Honestly this guy sounds insufferable and that's coming from a guy who was a snobby bartender for five years and has worked an additional five years in the beer, wine and spirits industry.

In my experience, nobody that orders a vodka martini wants any vermouth in it whatsoever and a Manhattan should never be served on the rocks unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Probably should be in a Lawrence themed thread.

We found this place called Saltwell Farm Kitchen, out on the southwest side of Clinton Lake. The owners bought an old farm house and converted the parlor into a dining room in the winter and in the spring/summer have outdoor dining.  We’ve gone twice now, each menu has been different but it’s essentially the chef prepares a 5-6 course dinner that takes around 2 hours to serve.  Pretty neat experience, great date night if you’re looking for something different.

yeah, this guy would get told to eff right off if he criticized my order. If I ask or just say make whatever, that's fine, but if I order something, its sort of his job to make it how I like it.

I've painted a poor picture of Sean. He will make it how you like he will just talk about how you drink it wrong lol. He seems like a fine guy per our wacky

If done right, that kind of attitude can be part of a bartender's charm. It's definitely a fine line though.

I keep meaning to try this place. It's either full or looks too heavy or menu items when I think about it.
