For me the number is $1.75 million a year, toss in bonuses he'll make nearly $2 million a year.

Anything beyond needs to come with painting another Final Four year up on the wall or least some trophies a little more elite than some nameless mid-season tourney in Hawaii.

To me that seemed like a fair number until I considered who KSU would land for that on an open market. The candidates in that price range or lower are going to be complete dogshit.
that's where i'm at.
i wonder what the value of our BPF would be in a coaching search.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

if true, Katz is an even bigger moron.   Who tells someone you'd accept the job before details are finalized?

I do think it bruises Frank's ego that Travis Ford makes more than him.  I do think he ultimately would like to be paid a guaranteed salary that pays him commensurately with top 3-4 in this league and I would agree that he serves it.  1.8 to 2 million seems fair.

At the end of the day, I really don't believe money is the driver this time around.

Floating his name out there for a dogshit school like South Carolin is about getting back at somebody.  Let's call it what it is.  To me, this is about a serious, deep seated personal conflict and his feeling that he has been wronged and disrespected.  Frank is an emotionally driven individual.  We see this crap on the sidelines every week.  You don't just turn that off like a light switch.  It is who he is.  Like a lot of things with Frank, he takes things extremely personally.  Whether it's rational or not, he's got a serious vendetta against his boss and the compliance department and it played out very publicly in the past week and it is only going to to fester if something doesn't change drastically.

Ultimately, will he cut off his nose to spite his face?  I don't know.

When people close to the situation I know are saying the stuff they are saying right now, there's reason for concern.

I don't think Frank's happy here anymore. He's seemed sad ever since Dalonte left. Maybe they were best friends.   :frown:

I think Kathouse waitresses were Dalonte's best friends (not joking)

IMO you flirt with SC as a power play against Curry (whether for financial or structural concessions).  It isn't Miami or Uconn so you must ask why?  The only answer is Curry.

Now if we are talking about resume building running your successful MBB coach with no contingency doesn't look good.

I'm going to stick with guaranteed money as a key here for Frank and Katz. When you look at $1.3 mil it looks pretty small timey. And when you have to add a bunch of incentives it sounds like a guy who hasn't proven he can coach. I'm sure Frank takes offense to both, seriously.

Honestly, if Currie and Frank's mutual face hate made frank leave, but it turned out that JC and oscar Pearl were really good drinking buddies and JC brought Pearl in.....I would get over it pretty quickly.

Love me some Frank, but am a big Pearl fan too.

Again, I'm not saying Currie will do it, but the one bridge he can "unburn is with money". He can come to Frank and say "look, I've done some stupid things, you've done some stupid things. I'm willing to concede and fix mine, how about we sit down and bump your guaranteed money up the ball park of other college coaches with a 5 year track record like yours."

Maybe it wouldn't be enough, but it wouldn't hurt.

What is the Pearl situation like? How much time on his show cause?  What about Sampson?  People in KS love denim shirts.

i'm with sd. if i'm currie and i'm not kidding in the slightest then i go to frank right now and ask him what his frustrations are and how could i as an athletic director do a better job in trying to help him. i'd ask for input and insight and let him know that i, like him am new to the job that i have. i'd tell him that i'm learning as i go just as he is. mistakes were made blah, blah blah. then i'd let him vent. then get to the contract stuff. unless it's beyond that in which case we're screwed.
