Currie and Frank will always have different personalities, and I think whether those differences cross the line into who has what authority when it comes to running the program, I don't think will be the deciding factor. I don't think Frank leaves KSU for power struggles that can be resolved internally (despite his admitted lack of ability to "be a man") and I don't think Frank leaves KSU because he doesn't have an AD that will go out with him and take some temperatures at Mustangs.
Main talking point that I just don't buy is that he's disrespecting the KSU fans by not squashing the rumors. We know, and he knows, that he is a tier 2 coach, but probably like a tier 3 or 4 recruiter. Whether or not you buy the "you can't recruit in Manhattan" line, he has been sitting for the last few years on a gradually decreasing talent level. For him to NOT consider other jobs/locations would be dumb.
A (probably better reasoned that it actually is) possible thought process for Frank:
"Hmmm SC is talking to me about their job"
"I do like it here in MHK, and these fans are stupid loyal to me, but boy oh boy as soon as this gets out it's going to blow up on the message boards, but I mean I don't really give much of a crap about those any way."
"Let's see... my only real recruiting pipeline for me personally is Miami/Florida, and I might have a better shot at getting those kids to come up to SC than MHK, plus once Rod leaves here... I'm nervous"
"Well... I don't honestly want to leave, but I should probably listen to those guys, and so I don't want to definitely squash those rumors, plus who knows maybe more monies for me?"
"But damn... those damn message boards and Sports talk radio shows... oh wait I DON'T CARE"
"Welp, I guess the only thing I can really do is stay quiet on this one"
