Frank currently has free reign to build his own program. He's got the resources. Anybody arguing that Currie is hampering his ability to win games is delusional.
Do you think it may be that it's not about winning games and more personal? Again, you may be awesome at your job, but if you don't like your boss and he's paying you 20% less than you'd get somewhere else, what do you think you're going to do? Nothing? You won't even consider polishing up your resume?
$$$ is important too. No doubt. But it seems like you don't often hear other major BCS coaches actively campaigning for crap jobs as a negotiating tool in contract discussions. Why is that? This is the 3rd time for Martin?
This happens all of the time. Mike Anderson got how many extensions at Mizzou before he got his dream job at Arkansas?
Look, in all forms of work, people will go out and interview if they're unhappy. If the relationship can be salvaged, they will go back to their current employer with the new offer and say, "Can you match or exceed this?" If yes, they stay. If no, they go.
You're kind of building a straw man argument for how good he has it here with all of these superficial things. What influences whether or not someone stays at a job, be it as a basketball coach or an accountant, is whether or not they like the people they work with, and the most important relationship, by far, is the one they have with their supervisor. If that relationship is bad, it doesn't matter how good you may think they have it.
