Would I rather have another coach? No.
Unless that coach was named K, Izzo, Self, Calipari, etc.
Would I rather have a coach who didn't crap on this fanbase? Yes. (IMO, that's exactly what he's doing when he refuses to squelch the rumors).
Martin is in that 2nd (maybe 3rd) tier of coaches and I'm fine with that. But, 2nd tier is 2nd tier. Let's call it what it is. Martin wants to play hardball and threaten to leave every offseason - win a damn Championship and he's golden. Otherwise, show some f'n respect and focus on recruiting better players than Nino and Doc. If he had a player who threatened to transfer every time he didn't get enough mpg, Martin would cut his ass in a heartbeat. He could very easily "get his" and negotiate his contract without openly threatening to walk off the job.
He makes our program look like a stepping stone when he floats his name out there for crap jobs like Miami and SoCa. How does that look to recruits? How does it look in the media? Martin wins 20 games and finishes outside the top#25 - and then looks at other jobs; demotions?? Welp, guess that's the ceiling of success at KSU.

What're we gonna do? Gotta go where the sunshine's brighter. A place like rough ridin' SoCa. You've got to be kidding me.
I haven't heard a single other BigXII coach's name being floated around for any jobs. Haven't heard anybody talking about the Mayor, Drew, Barnes, or any other NCAA qualifier. Only names I've heard are mid-major over achievers. Coaches who are looking for that promotion to launch their career. Oh yeah, and Frank Martin. That coach at poor KSU who's obviously looking for a better job. Because the K-State job blows. and we'll never sustain success. Perception is reality.
